I'm home now. Before everyone left for lunch the boss let everyone know that the office was closing at noon till January 5th. Bad timing with the Holidays but yet it gives us all more time to spend with loved ones, so it's all good.

I'm checking the weather now trying to figure out the best time to make my way to my parents for Christmas.

I sort of had a feeling it was coming. I had very little work for the past week. Yesterday I just cleaned up around the office. So this morning the boss comes over and tells me to finish up anything I'm working on and he was going to have to lay me off. He said they just can't see any other option. He said hopefully in a few weeks we would get some work in and they could call me back. Not sure their is any work out there.

So... Architectural Designer seeks work!

Hopefully it's not for too long and this will give me some time to get some other things taken care of.

Sorry to hear of the lay off. Its something more and more are facing and its a sad truth.

Even as the owner of two businesses...we are diversifying! I think those that have a great level of diversification right now will experience the least amount of struggles the coming years.

I got laid off more then a month ago. I am just going to take a break through the Holidays and then look for work back in the OC. I currently live in Palm Springs.

omg that ***** that you got laid off, i'm looking to get into architecture myself. right now im taking a speech class during the winter so i can move on. i'm doing a paper on my major and if you want to help me it might turn into something positive for my insight on the business.

Sorry to hear that Scott.

I'm getting a little worried myself. We are on a pay freeze now and they let a few of the sales people go last week.

In the past, CAD jobs were pretty easy to come by...not sure what it's like now, but I wish you the best of luck with your job search.

If you need any help with your resume or interviewing tips let me know. My girl is senior HR manager and totally helped me out when I was interviewing.
