  • Replacing Interior Vinyl

    Hello MOL community,

Not too long ago, I used my 240sx to move things from my old house to my new house. In the process, I acquired a very large cut in the vinyl...

Now I know a patch is a possibility, but I have yet to see one look decent.

Thus, I am looking for any and all advice possible on rewrapping my door with new vinyl. I have been scouring the internet for information and haven't come up with much.

So far, what I have found is that people recommend heating the vinyl before use and using a very strong 3M adhesive. Any other comments or suggestions?

Free bump, I would like to hear on this as well.

I recently made all-new custom fiberglass doors to house my custom (and self installed) stereo, but I had a pro wrap my doors in suede so I can't comment on that aspect of the job. Sorry!

My Firend has a 91 240SX and I told him to check a scrap yard for these cars and tear parts off them. Check a pick and pull near you or a Nissan wrecking yard.

I would, but the interior on cars there is so bad because of the Texas humidity and rain.

Furthermore, I can get vinyl really cheap and I would enjoy doing this project.

Oh, well that idea is out the door. Have you checked any local upholsrty shops to see if they sell kits to do it your self? I am thinking where else you can get parts or kits to fix this. I am going to contact my friend to see if he knows good part stores online for 240 upholstry.

The thing is I don't really need "parts". I have the door panel which plastic and wrapped currently in vinyl. It is just a matter of removing the vinyl and replacing it with new vinyl...from my understanding.

To remove vinyl on the paint I use a hair dryer and it lifts off, but this is for the interior so i do not think that would be good. you maybe can heat it a little bit to remove it and and then heat it and put the new on, that is just an idea.

That is what I was thinking...well I guess I will just have to wait and see how it turns out.
