  • Super Searchers Needed!

Needed: Threads with pictures of scoured/scratched paint from using rubbing or polishing compound.

If anyone has some free time and finds searching forums to be and art form they excel at, see if you can find some threads where people have used a traditional or old-fashioned rubbing compound or polishing compound on their car's hood or trunk lid and the threads have pictures of the damage.

I know there are threads like this on the forum but after spending some time searching I have not been able to locate any. I need them for an article.

    Thanks!

I posted this on the old forum:

Right side is TW Polishing Compound and the left side is TW Rubbing Compound.

Mike, wasn't there a Corvette you did that had a patch that had been rubbed with a super aggressive compound?

I'm kind of looking for a shot of a hood that looks good except for the place or places where a traditional compound was used and left easily noticeable dull spots.

The Corvette picture will work but was hoping for a hood shot and a "real-world" experience/mistake posted to our forum.

If only someone had a recently acquired... say... project truck. That would be lightning in a bottle...........

                Re: Super Searchers Needed!

An established thread would actually work best... being real-world and all...

I know there's someone here, the trick will be the picture. Often times people join, post threads with pictures and then remove the pictures from where they originally hosted them leaving red x's.

Sometimes when a thread shows itself to have value I'll download the off-site hosted pictures and then upload them into the members forum gallery and then re-insert them just to prevent this from happening but that's time intensive and can't do it for every instance it happens.

There's no hurry so I don't want Nick hacking up his Ford for a picture... plus it's not as valuable as an established, real-life thread off the forum.

I swirled up my moms van with a piece of carpet for product testing so if push comes to shove we can find some compound and start rubbin...

Or maybe I'll do some searching...

How about this one here....Doesn't look too bad but your post states that rubbing compound was used. This post from this thread.

Also found this picture from this thread in which Hemin8r polished out a G35 that somebody used rubbing compound on.

                        Re: Super Searchers Needed!

There was one in the last few months where a 'friend' tried to help a car owner and rubbed a compound on the hood of their car and left a number of dull/scoured patches on the hood.

I think the color was a brown or tan or gold and I thought the word help was in the title...
