Thanks for the concern but I am safe. I live in the heart of Hollywood yeah, I've been living in California for a while now and fires are typical in this state.
We've had a massive fire start up here in Orange County, basically on the other side of the hills from the one we had last October. Both the 91 and 57 Freeways are closed as the smoke and even the fire is jumping across them. I know that MOL member RDVT4ME lives in the area so Bob my friend, I certainly hope you're safe.
I have friends who live in Anaheim Hills (other side of the FWY from Bob) and I know some have been evacuated. One of them has a house just up the hill from a large apartment complex that has just burned to the ground in the last hour or so.
Reports are that in some places the smoke crossing the freeways was thick enough to kill engines in vehicles trying to get through it.
Add to this the fires in Montecito (Santa Barbara area) and Sylmar and once again fire crews in SoCal are getting stretched to the limit.

I hope Mike made it home from the class today. We knew the 91 was closed so we told him to go up the 57 little did we know the 57 was closed just after we left the class

He called me for directions about a half hour ago and he's getting on the 605 right now which should steer him clear of any traffic. He said 5 North is stop and go.
My prayers go out to anybody in the affected areas and my best advice is to listen to the authorities, they know a whole lot more than you about keeping people safe.

Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway. This is your life. Choose to live it to the fullest.
Ya, I read about the fire around the 91 sparking up around 4 and also the one in Sylmar. I know a friend of mine had part of her school burn down up in Montecito. I had been talking with a friend of mine down here who is a firefighter and he said they may need him to head up soon especially if the wind keeps picking up
There was a small fire in Valley Center near San Diego but SD Fire jumped on it immediately before it even got to 1 acre. Cal Fire in San Diego has cut days off, the Sheriff helicopter is covering the mountain areas where the Cedar Fire in 2003 started, so they're not taking any chances. 5-6 men per rig.
Mom just asked me why I want to do this for a living, what else could be more rewarding...except working for Meguiar's of course
Bumper-to-bumper traffic on the I-5 North to the 605 and then bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 605 to the 60 and then bumper to bumper traffic on the 60 for about 3-4 miles till traffic started to un-bunch and speed up.
Took about 4 hours to drive home, this is what it looked like for about 3 of those hours... (only not all blurry)
Happy to have made it home without any accidents... very long day but a lot of fun at the Saturday Detailing class...

We just got back home. Evacuated saturday afternoon. Houses about 4 blocks north of us burned to the ground. That was too close! My oldest son lives in anaheim hills. He and his wife and kids are in Phoenix for vacation. They had a mandatory evacuation....so we also went to his house and removed valuables and their 2 dogs. They were texting us where to find the items to remove (cell service for calls was not working) Spent the night at my other son's house in Placentia. It's been an interesting weekend.
In the end all is fine!

Glad to hear you're OK Bob, I was worried as I know you live in right in the area.
Turns out several homes on the street just below my former girlfriend's place burned to the ground. This thing has just been crazy the way it's jumping around so much.
