    Questions:

    1. Anyone here tried this?
    2. If so, how easy / hard is the product to use?
    3. Does the wash leave the car as clean as your normal outdoor washing?
    4. Does the ONR leave any film on the car that would become a problem when polishing after the wash?
    5. How much ONR do you need to add per wash? Would 32oz bottle get me through the winter with 2 cars?

Feel free to add links, but when I search for 'No Rinse' on the forum I get 25+ pages of threads back.

    Thanks guys and gals.
    1. Yes.
    2. Easy, however, it does take some time to get "use to" the procedure.
    3. Yes. If the car is really dirty, I mix up some in a 1 gal. sprayer and pre-spray the vehicle. If the vehicle has lots of MUD on it, I would do a water rinse first and then I might do a "regular washing" method.
    4. It leaves a SLICK finish! It's great! No problems for me, with cleaning/polishing the paint after a rinseless wash.
    5. Average car uses 2 to 3 gallons of ONR'ed water. If using a two bucket method, your using another 3 gallons for your water only bucket. How often will you be cleaning the cars will answer your question #5 here. Washing the vehicle in the garage: No problem!

    ONR tip:
    1. If your brake dust is tough to remove, make sure to have some type of APC to help with wheels/tires area.

    2. Even if using with a filtered water, always dry the vehicle afterwards. It will leave spotting behind, if it's not removed.

    Where I buy it:
Do a look up on google for: "kleen car". Their in New Jersey. So for me, I don't get dinged sales tax and their shipping was fairly priced. The normal time of "ground shipping" from them to me is around 3 to 4 days (I'm in California). A gallon costs around $35 and a quart is about $16. The Optimum polishes are outstanding too. I think the NEW M105 and M205 combo will beat them hands down, once their on the market.

Your asking me, "Do you WISH Meg's would create their own type of ONR?" YEEEESSSSSSSS!

In closing, I think _most_ people will love this product, after adjusting their routine a bit. I have not looked back, since converting over to it.

That's the first question Meguiar's would be asked if we brought out a similar or better version of ONR type products.

      Anyone care to answer?

      Hey Mike,
Sure it increases your chances of instilling scratches, anytime anything touches you're paint you run that risk. I really haven't' done any comparisons with this method of washing versus the traditional method, but when it's too cold here to wash your car outside, I will run my car through a touchless car wash, take it home and put it in the garage and use ONR with the two bucket method and it works pretty well. As long as I am careful to spray down the panel in a sprayer first, and keeping the wash mit rinsed on every panel, I've not had any problems.

        LOL

Actually I already know the answer as I've been asked this multiple times over the years, I was just asking to make people think.

There are times when people just don't have access to free flowing water for washing and rinsing their cars and in these cases they have to search out the best available option for their situation and ONR is one such option.

We were on water restriction alert here in the desert last year and it could be we'll be on mandatory water restrictions into the future so using other options for cleaning a car is on our horizon too.

Actually I've learned that answer from over the years reading your posts! But everytime I get asked by a customer how to keep the scratches out of their cars, I tell them not to touch it!

That is a pretty good way to avoid swirls and scratches!

I like to opt for something like my truck where I keep the paint shiny but if I get a scratch I don't lose any sleep over it. When I put the half-cab on I was my myself and ended up putting some scratches in the top sides of the truck bed, luckily I have some matching touch-up paint.

Re: Optimum No Rinse Wash - Thoughts & Opinions?

I've had excellent results with this process here in New Hamphire during the winter months when the car is covered with salt and sand and have had no marring.

Two gallons of warm water with 1 OZ of ONR (this is the normal ONR dilution ratio). Using a well rung out MF towel do the inside windows of the car and dry with a waffle weave MF. It makes a great glass cleaner.

I then add another 1 OZ of ONR to the two gallons since our water is hard in Nashua. Before doing the body of the car I mix 1/2 OZ ONR with 1 gallon of water in a Garden Pressure sprayer and wet down the entire car--I only do this when the car is really dirty with salt and sand.

Then I use a normal ONR technique (wash an area then immediately dry with a WWMF) to wash the body of the car using MF mitts with a pile that is about 1/2" long and allows me to control the amount of solution and they release grime very nicely. Make sure to rinse the mitt well in the ONR solution each time you do a section. I also drag the mitt over the grit guard to be certain no sand is left in the fibers.

After the body of the car is done I use the remaining solution to wash the wheels and wheel wells.

Never found a need for the two bucket method and never had any marring.

                pwaug,

Might want to review our forum rules,

Can you pick up onr locally? Or order it from there site? It seems to make sense for a lot of reasons. From colder climates to water restrictions. I am getting interested in this. Do to the continuing threat of water restrictions here.

I was going to order this through eshine.ca since it would put me over the $100 free shipping limit. Does anyone know if eshine has their prices in USD or CND? If I buy $100 at CDN, it is $87 in USD. Otherwise, it's just $100 and not that great of a deal.

                          3. Yes, but you can't hose out all the nooks and cracks like a normal wash.
                          4. I've never noticed a film.
                          5. Per directions 1 oz per 2 gallons of water. I put in 2 oz with 3 gallons of water. So figure a 32 oz bottle will get you 16 washes. New water for each car so you could wash both cars 8 times.

I've been using it for a couple of years and love it. There really aren't many non Meg's products I love but this is one. I originally bought it just to do winter washes but now use it for 90% of my washes.

Like Mike said, there are rumblings here in SoCal about water restrictions coming. Maybe ONR will be the answer if that happens.

It's kind of a psychological thing with me. I don't feel the car is clean unless I bathe it with water before and after soaping it down. I can go many weeks between washes by using Last Touch, but after 3 or 4 weeks I need to wash it even though it still looks clean.

I use Last Touch liberally every other day and think I could go months between washes if I had to. Of course that may change with the rainy season coming.
