I would doubt that you have had EVERY HP PRODUCT but int eh future if you look into HP, get something from the business line, it's not as stylish as the Home line but you have less problems with it and there are more replacements parts from part of HP

Absolutely no question. Go with a Mac! I was a PC user for 20 years. I switched 2 years ago have haven't regretted a moment. OS X is so much more secure. And if you really really need to run PC programs, then you can also run Vista on your Mac. Mac is the future.

Can't stand Dell. All of my friends buy them, and I end up fixing all of them down the road (One of my friend's family has 3 of them, and I have fixed them all at least once. I am getting ready to fix them all another time). For name brand computers, I love HP. The only issues I have ever had with the 3 HPs I've owned, was the actual repair shop itself not fixing the computer correctly...

Well of course we haven't had every HP product, but every HP product we have had (and this would be well over 10 different products) have all failed and are no longer in use. They have been replaced with PCs that I built, Dell, and so forth. Every single one of our inkjets now are all Canon. Dell is hit and miss on their budget systems, however the XPS line is absolutely solid and is highly regarded in the PC community. They have even given Falcon Northwest, Voodoo, and Alienware a run for their money a few different times in some head on competitions! Considering how much cheaper XPS is compared to those big three, I say that is some accomplishment.

I am only saying this from my personal experience. Obviously if someone has had lots of success with HP but has had many breakdowns with Dell, they are going to recommend the exact opposite as Roush did. Nothing against that as he is just going off of his own personal experience. The best thing you can do is take the collective opinion and form your own around that gathered with your own experience.

Congrats on the new system! The XPS420 is a pretty cool setup for what you are doing!

Fun times; we had to create captions for that image and I end up coming with that.

Thanks Wolfstrong. Our family has had pretty good luck with Dell over the years. We are pretty pleased with our selection. Can't wait for it to arrive.

                      Re: Need some computer advice.

I would love to do that. However I would probably mess it up.

Well everyone her is the update:

Placed the order with Dell for the xps, this was last Monday. On Tuesday Dell called me and said there was a problem with the order. It was in my best interest to add a item then we would be all set. The add on was $60.00. We said okay. They would transfer the credit on the first order apply it to the second order. All I had to do was pay the difference. No problem. On Friday we we checked nothing was done on the order. No credits applied, no new purchase for the difference, nothing. So I told them to cancel the entire order.

We ended up going to "Best Buy" on Saturday and picked up a complete system there.

The ironic thing is it is basically the same system as we were trying to order from Dell. But we were able to get a new all in one printer, a larger moniter and we ended up saving almost $400.00. I do not get it but the main thing is we are all happy.

Thanks again for all you input.

Well I promise you the printer just thrown in as a freebie as Dell always does; they always tend to throw one or two free items in their 'bundled' systems. Best Buy was probably clearancing them out for a new system coming in, and so you got the big savings. Congrats!

Personally I would get the life out of the ink in the printer (which are probably only half full to begin with; a standard thing on most), see how you like it, and check ink replacement costs. If it costs more than $60 to refill them than pass no matter what and go buy another printer. If not, than just use your own judgement to see if the printer suits your needs.
