  • family's cars

I was riding to a restaurant with my parents last night, meeting my wife and sister there. While driving around the parking lot, my mom was trying to find a spot and ended up parking a LONG way's away so no one would "hit their car doors." My sister is the exact same way with her car, parking about a mile away from any other car on the lot. I understand this line of thinking and do it myself occasionally. What makes me laugh is they take such precaution on parking lots, but will pay a company to instill swirl marks, scratches, etc by taking their cars to drive-thru washes. I've tried to persuade them to not take their cars to these places, but they just won't listen. My dad's always had the view that you really only need to wax your car maybe once a year, but that taking it to these places in between is more than adequate. They love their new cars and they love to keep them clean, but I guess they love putting swirls in their cars too! What's a good suggestion to give to people that don't want to take the time to clean their own cars?

    One word, "Brinkmann"

Do a side by side test of your used car vs their new car. I'm sure they'll appreciate that...

Hard part is not coming off like a know it all! These folks who know don't know about detailing always freak out when people call them on it!

The majority of the cars on the road look like that. Swirls, some light scratches, etc. Most people think that is the norm. If they are not impressed with how your car looks, then its like beating your head against the wall.

well you can always do charity work since they are your family..... and tell them it would be the last time if they ever take it to the drive through washes again..... lol
