Any pictures of the eye? Hope that doesn't sound cruel, but I'm curious.

Off to the doctor right now..

As to the pictures, the eye looks 100% normal right now, but the vision is still horrible. So the normal person walking by wouldn't be able to tell at all.

Hate to hear that but at least your smart enough and took action.

Hope everything's alright and no long term damage.

Well current news is that it is still blurry and basically useless but it might possibly get better. There are some options open but they really want to wait another couple weeks just to make sure that all the swelling and inflammation is down before they make any decisions. They said it shouldn't still be blurry, which isn't a good sign. All tests show that the temporary damage and burning is gone and there are no scratches on the eye.

Thanks for the update Ryan. I'll keep you in my prayers. Hopefully time will heal the eye.

Re: ***PLEASE READ*** Always wear goggles!***

Think positive, don't discount the ability of the human body to recover when you think positive.

Everyone reading this do your best to learn a lesson from Ryan's mishap.

It's so easy to do some kind of carguy project and not even think about wearing safety glasses, safety goggles or a face mask. But the consequences of a mistake can have life altering changes.

                There's an old saying...

"Try to learn from other's mistakes as you may not live long enough to make them all on your own"

                And this one...

"You don't know what you have till it's gone"

                Work clean, work safe.

Again thank you Ryan for sharing this personal issue with our forum as a way of bringing some attention on simple safety precautions we should all follow and also insure anyone working with us is also following.

                Little story...
My best friend growing up was and is a welder/fabricator and accustomed to paying attention to safety because he'd been hurt many times and seen others get hurt for years.

The effect this had was that anytime I would help him in his shop he would insure I had hearing protection, safety glasses and if needed the appropriate work gloves. He was responsible for everyone that worked in his shop and I don't remember anyone ever getting hut.

That doesn't mean we were a safe group to work with, (we weren't), it just means that when we were doing dangerous things we always wore our safety equipment.

Re: ***PLEASE READ*** Always wear goggles!***

I completely agree, Mike, especially with the life changing moments. If I can't regain good enough vision I might not be able to drive unless glasses fix the problem. So for all you car guys out there, think about not being able to drive ever again, that should get you wearing glasses in a jiffy.
