  • Transformer explosion closes Call Center for the day

Hey gang, just thought I'd let you know that an Edison transformer blew up somewhere near Meguiar's Irvine offices this morning and our power is out along with phones and internet. I'm typing this from home - we closed early today because the whole block around us is down, Edison isn't sure when they'll have power restored, and we even saw crews climbing in and out of manholes pulling cable in both directions.

So if you call Meguiar's Customer Care today you won't get through to anyone. Sorry about that.

Hope it didn't physically blow up right? If so hopefully everybody is ok.

So your free to come wash my cars then right?

We actually heard it just as the power cut out. Not sure exactly where the transformer was, but there was an Edison crew in the parking lot across the street when we left.

OK. This would explain why our building was out of power for 30 minutes. Our UPS system saved us from data loss.

Well that is true, but I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

When a transformer blows you know it! We know too well during ice storms. A blue green flash and then darkness...

You can hear that blocks away if it blows!

And that even takes time in getting fixed like a whole day, eh?
