  • Favorite Car Guy TV Show

I admit this is a repost of an old post that is gone from the archives...But it was kinda fun the first time...

The question is..what is your favorite 'Car Guy/person TV show?'

For me its Top Gear. Hands down..cool cars and the hosts are great.

Chop/cut/rebuild is second...they need to add more content and get rid of the 'tell ya what we are gonna show ya'..'show ya what we are gonna show ya', and 'tell ya what we showed ya' format. But the host is cool and drives lots of cool cars and the details on the builds are excellent.

Overhaulin' WAS great..but is dead as far as I can tell

    Whats your fav?

As far as general car culture goes, especially the people who are driving the hobby, you really can't beat Car Crazy (and honestly, I'm not saying that just because I work for the show's host). To this day I'm amazed at how quickly an episode seems to fly by, but then again I'm definitely a people person and am really into the history of the car culture. Last weeks episode on the Brooklands Museum in England was among my all time favorites. I just eat that stuff up.

But for shows that concentrate on the cars themselves, work through projects, and/or do road tests, etc.

    1. Top Gear (the people are great, the cars are awesome, the concept unique, and the camera work just stunning)
    2. Fifth Gear (a close second and still far above anything else offered on this side of the pond)
    4. Dream Car Garage (Canada's finest, and the restoration work at Legendary Motorcars is simply amazing)
    3. Any documentary on historic sports car, grand prix or Formula 1 racing (I download tons of this stuff)
    5. Overhaulin' (even with the format change it's still just a bunch of very positive people doing beautiful work on a wide variety of cars, and Chip Foose is just dripping with talent and a super nice guy - high marks just for that)

Honorable Mention: Wrecks to Riches (it's not on anymore but it was fun while it lasted, plus I met Barry White at SEMA last year and he was just a super nice guy)

Top Gear is 100x better than any other show!

Trucks with stacy david was good, muscle car when they had the guy that always wore bandannas, cant remember his name, overhaulin is good, pinks is getting worse, because it's all a game, and all-out is always the same group, two guys garage was good, because they actually showed you all the steps, instead of the major things and assumed you knew the rest

I don't watch it I do it. You will find me in my garage most nights wrenching or polishing.

                            8) Season 1 and 2 of Overhaulin' , Chip Foose seems like geniune nice guy but the show seems to have veered off couse in the later seasons (hard to get excited when celebrities get their vehicles overhauled..kind of takes away from the purpose of the show)

I agree with your Overhaulin comment. It ttok the American Chopper route. I like wrenching so I enjoy watchimng shows that actuall "wrench". All these Reality TV Shows end up the same.
