    Just got this from a friend. Interesting, so I thought I'd post it up here. Be careful if you get a call to buff or clean a ZR1...


    NEVER ALLOW WHEEL CLEANER, TIRE CLEANER, or BRAKE CLEANER TO CONTACT THE ROTORS. Ceramic rotors will absorb any material that comes in contact with them. Only soap and water should be used to clean wheels and tires. Any product that is applied to the rotor surface will cause damage to the surface and is not covered under the GM warranty.

    MATERIALS USED FOR CLEAN UP OF VEHICLE AS WELL TIRE CLEANERS = WILL DAMAGE CERAMIC ROTORS!!!!!

    When waxing or polishing the carbon fiber panels, a wax or polish that is black in color is recommended. If a polish or wax dries to a white or light colored haze, the residue may fill the small depressions and it will be difficult to remove it. This is not a product concern but some owners may note that after waxing the part has small white dots. This is likely to be a wax residual in the pores of the fiber. This is especially true on the underside of the hood. Since the underside of the hood is not subjected to UV light it is not clear coated and tiny pores in the fiber are open. If customers wax or polish this surface they may note white specks in the paint. Advise them the white specks are residual wax and must be removed with a wax or polish remover.

    Notice: DO NOT allow any solvent or paint to come in contact with the clear hood insert as this will damage the UV coating.

    Important: Never use wax, polish or spray cleaner on the clear panel in an attempt to remove any scratches as the protective coating may be removed.

    So, would #26 be the wax for this vehicle? Dries clear.

        Wow that is a lot of stuff you can not do to it. I think Chevy is making a special line of products to specially detail it to make some extra cash just a thought.

          It does dry very clear as long as you're applying a thin coat, test on a normal black hood sometime and see for yourself. Translucent might be a better word.

          I think that if you get M26 in little tiny holes and don't get it out it may not remain completely clear over time, not sure never tested it that way.

            You see, that's why I'm not getting a ZR1. I better just hold off for the C6 Zo6.

              I wonder how many owners will ever read that part of the manual. I never use a wheel cleaner. I use regular soap and water and they always look like new. That paint part is another story. Goodluck to the ZR1 owners.

                I've heard that the paint is very, very, very pricey too. I was curious when someone was going to get some information like this. At any rate, thanks for sharing!

                  yes, it is, the clear coating on the CF especially. On a car like that I'd spray the tire cleaner onto a cloth, and hand wipe the tires, instead of spraying it on, and using brushes. The paint part is stupid, it shouldnt be very hard to get a clear coat that doesnt have those pits in it, after all, the car is nearing 100k
