    Just to clarify...

The part you're talking about is going to be taken off the car?

If so, for really tough work like this I've used Easy Off Oven Cleaner or the equivalent at Smart & Final is, both work pretty well.

    Spray let penetrate hose off
    Spray let penetrate hose off
    Spray let penetrate hose off
    Repeat till gunk is gone...

Throw some scrubbing in to the mix but wear gloves and eye protection as these products contain lye and will burn you.

Also if the aluminum is polished and that's important to you then understand that the lye in these types of products will dull the finish down. You could conceivably tape-off or somehow cover the shiny appearance parts and try to just get the oven cleaner onto the baked oils surfaces.

    Best of luck...

Thanks Mike! I have the plenum off, and that isn't polished and is probably going to be painted just so it looks nice.

I may not take the intake manifold off after all...still deciding on that. Chances are I will just be cleaning the plenum. But I will try and grab some oven cleaner...
