As you all are starting to see, the new look for MOL is live. As you also know there was some delay in getting this done, we were deliberating some some design issues yesterday which caused the delay until this morning.

Ross, great job on the Megs page and the Megs direct page. Much more user friendly!!

Is is possible to have skins for the forum so we can go back to the old colors? They were a bit easier on my eyes.

Mike and I have discussed the idea of skin options and will be running it by the admins at some near term point in time. It's a great idea

Other colors looked better IMO. Easier on the eyes, and a little more elegant.

Uh, yeah.

I agree on this one.
Looks a bit washed out.
The red is not something I'm too hip on... It really draws the eye.

My initial impression is the old gray background is much easier to deal with, too.
But!- All my other screen are white, so who knows...?

I know I definitely like the looks of the other Meguiar's sites...
All the black makes the bottles & logos really stand out!
The pictures look nicer, too.

Sorry to be a party-pooper on this.

Maybe I'll get used to it?

Sorry guys! I'm with Nick too. Plus it's going to be harder to surf during work since it's so bright, the other one sort of blended in.

Well, all I can say after seeing the new look is:

ZAP! POW! BAM!


Assuming the intent was to make it more urgent and in-your-face I’d say it was successful.

If the intent was to make it annoying and difficult to read (for me anyway) it was also successful.

It kind of scared me at first!

It's growing on me. The red looks like the same color red that it used for several of the Meguiar's bottles so I dig it. Good job guys and I really like the new meguiarsdirect.com too.

I can only hope that right now we're seeing the forum skin in a state of flux and that more changes are forth coming. If not, this is almost as big of a step backward as the switch to the other forum software was a year or so ago. Way too much red, way too hard to read, and not near as friendly on the eyes as it was 24 hrs ago. Definitely not an improvement.

Learn from Coca-Cola... New Coke sucked.

I think the problem might be related to color adjacency. The red directly next to the black might be too much of a perceived contrast for most of us.

Maybe using some of that gold color... and/or a bit more black would help?
