Broken Key

I was at the airport today, as I turned off my truck, they key broke off inside the ignition leaving me holding a stub. It still worked when I lined the 2 parts. So after I got back home I had to run to the parts store and buy a whole new ignition lock. The installation wasn't as hard as I thought, so it only took about 10min.

It didn't last long once I noticed I can still start it.

you had to replace it and not just get the old key out eh? That *****, you could get the new lock keyed for the old door locks

It broke off too far inside to be able to get it out, and a new lock was $17, far cheaper then getting a locksmith out. So now it has a separate key for the door and ignition, like they all used to way back when.

I hate when this happens

Same key and looks like the same ignition lock as my truck. What year/model is it?

Its a 1993 F-150 4x4 with a 5.8L

Ahhh, lock cylinder, not the whole ignition switch, yeah, had one go bad in a Aerostar, took 45 seconds to replace and cost about 11 bucks!

I actually like separate keys for ignition and doors.

Close. I have a 1986 F150 4x4 with the 5.8L H.O.

That was not as bad as I thought it would be. Glad it was a easy inexpensive fix.
