Re: What's your coffee? Cafe Cubano !!

To Cubans coffee is more than coffee. Having a "café cubano" or "cafecito" remains a prominent social and cultural activity within the Cuban community.

We drink very small amounts of it all the time. For breakfast we will have a cafe con leche (coffee with milk mixed together) It is very sweet and eaten with heavily buttered up Cuban bread which is dipped in the cafe con leche before eating..

The two brands I drink are Bustelo or La llave.

We make it in "Cafeteras" It is usually an Italian made coffee maker. It consist of three parts, the lower portion, the basket, the upper portion.

They come in many different sizes. I own a single user size as well as a 5-6 person size.

The lower portion is filled with water. Coffee goes in the basket. When the lower part turns to steam it passes through the coffee and is collected in the upper portion.

The mark of a good coffee maker is the amount of "espumita" or foam floating on the coffee. This is made by combining the first strongest part of coffee to come up from the basket with sugar. This is then mixed into a paste.

When the rest of the coffee is added you will have a sweet foam head of "espumita." This is a little bit of an art and a blast to make of anybody who doesn't get a good espuma on their coffee.

We drink it in small "tazas." Here is mine next to my keys to show you the size.

        MMMMMMMM QUE SABORSO !!

I am a coffee fanatic. I love premium, rich coffee and this is where I get mine.

At home, I either use this with Second Cup's Hazelnut Creme blend of beans:

Or this with Second Cup's espresso beans:

Mountain dew doesn't have orange juice in it, haha, but i'll try to tell myself that next time to see if it works.

Coffee wise, I've been drinking just whatever packet Starbuck's is selling (coffee bean packets, not their overpriced coffee milkshakes). Grandfather also used to bring huuuge bags of beans around, and we'd drink those too.

I've tried it before (yes, I know I'm only 17) and I hate it. You would be surprised how many people at my high school drink coffee in the morning and the huge thing is energy drinks. I like the Monster Juice ones because they actually aren't all that bad for you because its mainly juice.

You could not have picked two coffees so far apart. I dream of the day I get to try Jamaican Blue Mountain.

Energy Drinks......ever read the ingredients in Red Bull ??....here's one of them, Taurine. Here's what it is:

Taurine, or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is an organic acid. It is also a major constituent of bile and can be found in the lower intestine and amounts in the tissues of many animals and in humans as well.[1][2] Taurine is a derivative of the sulfur-containing (sulfhydryl) amino acid, cysteine. Taurine is the only known naturally occurring sulfonic acid.[3]

Taurine is named after the Latin taurus, which means bull or ox, as it was first isolated from ox bile

Uh, no thanks...I'll stick to the coffee!!!
