The Civic is in the top echelon of compact cars in terms of reliability and resale value. The Civic with the 140hp 1.8 liter engine offers excellent fuel economy and a refined and spirited engine. I had a 1993 Civic EX that I drove for 7 years and well over 100k (with no problems) and still sold it for $7000. (So, It lost roughly half of its value after 7 years and 100k of trouble free driving) The new Civic addressed the lack of torque from the previous generation Civics with a larger engine (however they do love to rev). I have a co worker with a 2008 Civic 4 door /5speed and he regularly gets 40mpg on highways. If you are so disposed, there is an active aftermarket for the vehicle, so there is plenty of options for personalization. Best of luck on you impending purchase.

as for that guy with 200k on his civic, he should definately invest in satellite radio!

I test drove the 2008 6 (count 'em 1 2 3 4 5 6) spd accord v6 (2dr). I honestly was suprised by the power. They used to say hondas showed their power in the higher ranges. NOw, it's a different ball game. I have a scion tc and yeah it's a 4 banger but I love it. The new accord has a great shifter as well. It just glides into gear. I will say that if you do go 6spd, get ready to drive light because if you don't you will find your self spinning tires because it has some (MO-gas as my Dad used say) power. Ok i know your not going 6 spd but at least test drive it. It's free and you will thank me for it lol.

The Honda 4cyl are rev happy motors, especially the Civic Si and S2000. The V6 Accords generate a lot more low end torque. My girl has the '04 EX V6 with auto, and even that is fun drive. Hope she upgrades to an '08 soon though!

Yeah, I actually wanted to drive the Civic Si but it was on the showroom floor and I didn't want to wait around. I did play with the shifter and it felt like butter. I wish I could steal some of the technology and put it in to my scion. Well actuallY I can but I don't have the money for aftermarket goodies yet.

My Si was a blast! I sold it after getting too many tickets! the sound of the intake at 5800 begged you to drive the car hard!

                              I miss her!
