  • Possible River Record......

Some that know me know that I love to trout fish. When most think of trout, they think of 6-8" small fries caught on tiny rods or fly rods. Not me. I only fish for the bigger bad boys. 20 incher pluses. Yeah I go several trips without catching one but when you do, it's worth it!

Such is what happened last night.......

My son and I went fishing on my local river. An hour into it, I could tell my son's patience was thinning.....he's 12. I reassured him that the way we fish will produce a large one but maybe not tonight. 2.569 seconds later (lol) the water churned. He handed the rod to me and 31 minutes later, at 9:31PM EST on 6/21/08, this 11.2 lb 28 inch female was landed!!! We meet with GA DNR (game) to see about the record.

Here's a few more from this year.....

WOW! I haven't ever caught anything that big. Of course, I start to get impatient after about 10-15 minutes.

If I had caught what may be a record fish I think I might have a hint of a grin on my face. What's up with that look? You don't look happy.

      Congrats!

I also love fishing and build my own rods in the off season. My forte is Salmon and Brown trout. Like this King. Notice I was kind of happy with the catch.

        Well...........I was freaking tired!!!

I wish I had a recording of the phone call to my brother. I was using my Bluetooth while landing it. He said it was classic!!!

That is awesome, your son will never forget that either!

This is my Stepson with his first fish in the ocean (we were bottom fishing in Brookings OR) and he was the only one to catch a fish that day.

          His prize back at camp

That day we saw some whales, it was awesome, the boy was excited to say the least. My dad is a great sport, the money for gas for the boat, trailer it out there and gas for the truck, docking fees etc etc. and one fish. He loves it. I had great times with my dad fishing growing up and now do it with my kids (except 4 girls, there not as excited about putting a worm on a hook!). We have a ton of poles at the house for them and their own little tackle boxes.

Good Show! Good times indeed. Dang it I'm at work too!!!!!!!!

That's a big fish ... now get it gutted and cooked. I want to see the pictures.

There's nowt like fresh trout baked with lemon and herbs in the cavity and served up with a few little potatoes for everyone to just dig in. Best done in a steam pit right by the river. Damn! I'm salivating

Well done, fella ... and a nice lesson taught to the young lad. Patience and hard work pay off

Going on the wall guys. It gets wrapped in a special fish bag for taxidermy. Then it goes into the freezer.

Don't blame you one bit. Make sure we get to see some pics when it gets back. Once again congrats.
