  • Some Detailing Observations...

I may be a bit biased, but as I go through the posts here showing detailing jobs (along with shots at other forums - like autopia), I am amazed at how the Meg's detailers (guys who use Meg products stand out).

I'm really not trying to be a homer, just an honest observation. I looked at pictures from guys like:

    Derrick
    Rasky
    Superior Shine
    Nick
    Mike P.

And I am just blown away. I go to other forums (and with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 guys) the list of guys above consistently seem to produce the best results.

I've come to a couple of possible explanations:

    1. The guys who use Meg's products are better photographers.

    2. The guys who use Meg's products have a better command of Photoshop.

    3. The products (in conjunction with good skilled work) actually perform as advertised (read: great).

In any event, this is just an unscientific observation and more like a pat on the back to all of the pros here who consistently turn out great work! Second to none guys, good work!

    I made the list

I am FAAAAR from a pro!
Joe, Mike and the others on your list deserve more credit than I. But I know exactly what you're talking about. People posting pictures on these other forums, and the paint is still scratched, hazy, cloudy and just doesn't look clean.

i think personally the guys u mentioned as well as many others, are just that good of detailers, and know there stuff...

granted yeah there pics come out great to , but its not the pics they take of the cars u see them working on that allows them to work on those type of high end cars, its them being the best at what there doing that allows that client base of such expensive high end vehicles..

Two that are real good that work together from Autopia are RickRack and RyDawg. Ive seen their work in person and it is unreal! TH0001 does unreal work too.

I suppose this looks hazy and cloudy to you?

My brother bought this car earlier this week. On to the detail! The car had a few random rotary holograms and some very light swirls (most likely from dealer prep). Process: Wash with Meguiars Deep Crystal wash Clay with Optimum Opti-clay (car wash as lube) Poorboys SSR1 via white...

Note that is not my work, but it's a fine example of great work by gmblack3a.

I can make a car that hasn't been washed in 2 weeks look good with just a few changes to my camera's settings and 6 feet of distance on the car.

Ok and it's not just entirely possible that some folks aren't on the same skill level?

If someone posts a picture with hazy paint I'd think they'd either ask for tips to remove it or not have noticed it?

Anyone who has worked on the Alpine SEMA cars or a Meguiar's project car deserves to be included in the list.

                          Re: Some Detailing Observations...

Hey lets keep this thread nice guys...

Mindflux is right that a car can be positioned in a way in different lighting conditions to look both good and bad.

Hopefully a person can get a feel for the honesty and credibility of a person over time by reading their post to have faith that the pictures they post are accurate representations of what they're claiming them to be.

For example if a member says a car is in bad condition and shows a pictures of the car in bad condition then we want to have faith in them because they're posting history has shown them to be honest and credible thus the picture is accurate to their description.

                          Like this...

The paint on this truck is ugly

                          Now it looks good...

And there was no tricky business using Photoshop or lighting or camera angles...

                            Re: Some Detailing Observations...

Yeah, I didn't create this thread to start a flame war, simply make observations of guys I think do great work (and TH0001 would've been one of the guys I thought about who doesn't use Meg's exclusively, but still gets great results).

However, the point was more to compliment the guys who do and the amazing results they get (yes, you too Nick - I would have NEVER known you weren't a pro because your results are unbelievable).

In any event, I'm sure there are a lot of Meg's guys I left out. The list wasn't intent on being exhaustive, just a sample. I mean... everything Derrick touches, I seem to think is amazing. Superior Shine posted some pics a few weeks back of some of his work the just blew me away.

The truck Mike posted above is something I showed my wife weeks ago and she just about fainted.

Again, not intended to flame, not even scientific just one man's humble opinion (which I'm certainly entitled). The guys using the Meg's really get top notch results. The best I HAVE SEEN.

I have seen incredible results achieved by members of this board and I have seen them achieved by members of other boards too.

I have seen them achieved with Meguiar's products and I have seen them achieved with other brands too.

Enthusiasm is great as long as feet stay on the ground.
