  • Ebay suggestions

I've bought items from Ebay a small number of times but I have never sold anything. Anyway, my wife has a few items (non-detail related) stuff she wants to sell. My question is the last time I sold something here and I was paid via credit card funds on paypal i was charged like 6.5% fee, is there somehow I can lower that % for CC funds? I thought there was some other acct level on Ebay I sign up for. Totally subjective I know but what is the ideal time to end an auction? I'm thinking 7PM Pacific?

    Thanks

I doubt you can lower the fees. That is a set % from PayPal. Usually the fee comes from transferring over the $500? limit per month for the basic members, like myself (at least, that's the only time I have been charged a fee).
As for the time, I believe you set the length you want, and it just ends say 7 days later at whatever time you posted it.

      Re: Ebay suggestions

I tried twice to sell things on eBay. Let me just say that I'm better at sniping...

First of all, the charge to list it is not great. Second, eBay offers no protection against fraudulent items (burned twice). Third, PayPal takes a chunk.

I prefer to sell things on forums and other sites. If people are in the market, they usually look on a forum.

To avoid PayPal, you can only accept money orders or checks. However, I've seen many auctions were nobody bids on it because of those same requirements.

I've found that I have more success outside of eBay. The forums have real buyers who won't flake.

Thanks guys. Yeah, this would be selling stuff so as a seller I would require payment up front (PP or MO or such) which should reduce the frauds.

The paypal hit is the part I hate. Part of doing business on Ebay I guess.
