Does anyone know the long term effects of a clear bra on paint?

I mean the conventional car bras could cause issues with the paint if left on for long periods without washing, and drying the area. Is it true of clear bras?

Since my car is only about a month old, I was thinking about getting one, but only if I knew it didn't cause any long term scratching, marring or paint fading. Anyone have any ideas?

We're around a wide range of cars because of the classes and in the last 4+ years we've never really heard much from owners about long term problems, that's kind of like a snapshot whether there's really an issue with something or not.

      Re: Clear Bra

I have read on a post on another forum where the clear bra left nasty adhesive residues when it comes time for removal. The detailer had to remove the clear bra off of a Lab Merc and spent 2 days removing the adhesives. The removal was done because the clear bra cracked and yellowed due to age.

I just had my car done last weekend along with window tint. My friend has been installing them for over 13 years and has never seen or heard of any negitive effects. He said removal is easy if you careful...of coarse if it was yellowed and cracking it would probably be a pain. If you take care of you car you should not have any issues.

I went 18" since my paint chips easy

Let's say that a rock hits the clear bra, because of the impact, does the clear bra moves? I mean does it wrinkle?

The Acura looks great BTW, I can't even see it

It would have to be a pretty large rock for it to tear/disturb the film. This stuff is pretty strong.

                Re: Clear Bra

I've been installing clear bras for over 8 years. We always put a coat of Meguires Gold or MTX and removal is a snap as apposed to some that strip off the wax, those can be a nightmare to remove. The only thing I've noticed is once the film is removed, sometimes the unprotected areas have all those fine scratches in the clear coat vs the brand look of the area under the film. Best way to avoid that is get the whole hood done.

That would be kind of pricey wouldn't it? Besides, you're on MOL! There are no swirls here!

Your Acura looks great. You can't see the clear bra at all.
