Re: Did anyone else feel the earthquake?
We just had a pretty big one before midnight. What is up with all of these earthquakes happening?

It was a 8.0 or so on the scale.
When it goes these days, St. Louis and Memphis may be toast.

Yea and im maybe 2 hours from memphis over in arkansas. But we are in the old ozark mountains so we shud not get it near as bad. The mountains soak up a lot of shock.
I felt the earthquake I was siting at my desk and my chair with wheels started moveing!

Yeah, this is the one we had this morning at 12:38.
It seems that they downgrade the rating after a while - about ten minutes after, it was rated a 4.5.
My bird freaks out every time one of the quakes occures! She flies around the house five times and walks upstairs...

I personally didn't feel it, although I was just getting up at the moment it hit. Several of my co-workers felt it here in Cincinnati.

Chris,
did you feel the one about 1:38 this morning? I was asleep and it woke me up, wasn't nearly as severe as the main one and didn't last as long. They said 4.2 or something like that. I know the first one brought me out of bed and I was freaking out! I'm definitely not used to those, now Tornado warnings, yes, Earthquakes, no!

Well, these earthquakes are becoming the norm. We just had another - 4.5.
Three quakes atleast 4.5 or more within four days?

There was a small one (1.2) on Tuesday here. I was at school and just heard the walls make a cracking sound and it stopped.

We felt it. Some guys I work with live in that area, and they said it was like a freight train going through their living room. Definately an experience.

Re: Did anyone else feel the earthquake?
I was asleep and didn't notice it but people that were awake in this area did. I'm in Waterloo, Iowa which is almost 500 miles from the epicenter.

Re: Did anyone else feel the earthquake?
I am going to school in Kalamazoo, Michigan (Southwest Michigan) and I did not feel it (guess it didn't wake me up) but my friend who lives a couple minutes from me said it woke him up. This is from my friend's blog:
"This morning around 5:30am I was awakened by my apartment shaking. Well more like swaying side to side while I laid in my bed. The thought of an earthquake crossed my mind, however, the apartment wasn't majorly shaking, and I dismissed it with the idea "What are they doing in the apartment above me?". This morning I found out it was an earthquake (epicenter at the lower Illinois/Indiana border line with a magnitude of 5.2). To put this into perspective, I've mapped out the approximate location of the epicenter and where I am currently located, nearly 400 miles away."
He has a map on his blog, but I didn't put the time into posting that here...but 400 miles, you get the idea! (Search on google maps if you want to see how far away Kalamazoo is from the earthquake!) My brother is currently in Ann Arbor Michigan (east side of Michigan, not too far from Detroit) attending University of Michigan and he said he was still up and felt it as well!

Re: Did anyone else feel the earthquake?
Yeah, I heard that a quake along the New Madrid Fault did change the path of the Mississippi.
I know you guys out in California think it's nothing, but earthquakes (especially of this magnitude) out here are rare.
Atleast we don't have tornado warnings that often...
