  • This could be a first ??...8 ball, #80, Rotary

So I was playing one of my favorite games today, 8 ball, and it's snowing like crazy outside....I was looking at the billiard balls and noticed that they lacked that new shine that they used to have...actually, I am going through detailing withdrawl and looking for anything to polish !!!...so I pulled out the rotary, a 8006 pad, #80 and PlastX and went to work...took a while but I love the results...just shows that if you use your imagination, anything is possible with Meguiars !!!

          Yeah I need help...

I wore nitrile gloves and actually held the ball with my hand and had the rotary going at about 1500 rpm...had to hold on tight...I lost it once or twice and almost took out a picture on the wall in my basement when the ball got loose..but no damage...I would try and make a jig next time but this worked for today...don't think I'll be doing it again for a while...

            Cool!!!

Me and a few other guys play 8 ball every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in one of the dining halls. The cues are warped and the felt is filled with holes, but it's tons of fun!

Cabin fever really sets in, doesn't it? I'll spare you the pain of telling you just how warm and sunny it was here today and instead just say - congrats on a job well done!

Now how about polishing up the pool table itself????

Bill, I figured doing the table itself made sense since Meguiar's actually started as a furniture polish company. Looking forward to the before and after shots of that too!!

A heads up on the balls put the side handle on it rest a leg on the handle like back of the knee and lay buffer on its back with something near the trigger area and sit on the floor with it....I did a good friend of mine billiard set with a wool pad and a little 83 and machine glaze. They wool pads I feel works better as will not bite as much on the balls and they really do play alot better shiny...................

I don't have any wool pads yet since the rotary is new...I do plan to get the backing plate and pads soon...thanks for the tip

and I thought I was the only one that did this !!

                            Nice work, cool project.

If you have a bench vice, next time you have small parts to polish, simply place the Rotary buffer into the vice and tighten down the vice. You can wrap it in something to protect the finish from getting to scratched or imprinted from the teeth in the vice.

Then turn the polisher on and set the lock mechanism in the handle and you're good to go.
