The Gulf process sounds like Simonize to me. Ive used the Vista wax and it was very good , and very popular. The 3 popular paste cleaner waxes at the time were Vista , J-Wax , and Dupont New Car Wax . The 3 waxes were very good , but I kinda liked New Car Wax the best.

Showing my age here. I remember in Chicago, You would go to your local Standard Oil Full service gas station and pick up a tub of vista wax. Man that was a good wax.

When I was a child living in Atlanta my father owned a full service gas station. I remember him getting mad when I would jump on the hose that would ring the bell inside- remember those?

Any idea what year that was from? Here is an idea what $0.79 from 1945 is worth today...

Current data is only available till 2006. In 2006, $0.79 from 1945 is worth:

$8.85 using the Consumer Price Index

                          $7.37 using the GDP deflator

$15.92 using the value of consumer bundle

                          $15.53 using the unskilled wage

$21.80 using the nominal GDP per capita

$46.72 using the relative share of GDP

My guess would be that that ad is from the late 20s / early 30s not 1945.
