    Re: Gotta get new tires

I've gotten one puncture, ONE, since 1985 and I spent many years driving in excess of 60,000 miles per year - I've calculated that during that time I've actually driven around 900,000 miles. ONE flat. And that was on a brand new tire on a brand new car. I pulled into a tire store just off the freeway and they actually patched it from the inside for me, at no cost!! 50,000 miles later I replaced that set of tires and never once had an issue with the patch.

When I think of all the tires I've bought over the years...........

Heck, I'm in the market for a new set of tires right now, and I won't be getting the extra insurance. For some things insurance and extended warranties are a good thing - a very good thing. For others, it's a waste of money.

Try the Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred. I put them on my F150 after a set of Wrangler A/T's and what a difference! Great in all weather. Looks like the Tire Rack has them for $104.00 each - might be worth the $20.00.

Might want to check out craigs list for wheel/tire combos that folks yank off their cars. I've found some sub 1000 mile sets for like 500 dollars.

Well, I kinda broke the budget by a bit, but I think the performance will be well worth it.

Bridgestone RE960A/S were $100 a piece from a local guy.

I'm having them mounted next week during my spring break...

Not to sure what kinda cars everyone drives but I like Yokohama Tires. Got a set of Geolander A/T-S tires on my Jeep and they are great. Had them in mild snow, offroad on rock/mud many times, onroad in heavy rain, they seem to handle everything perfectly. They do seem to be alittle on the soft side as I only have 5k miles on them and Im already seeing some tread wear. Im pretty rough on them since I offroad on sandstone alot though. That stuff eats them up when I use 4-Part-Time.

Got them off tire-rack for $100 a pop with $40 for shipping. That was over a year ago and it seems like shipping has now doubled. I get them mounted by a friend then put them on my Jeep myself. Im not much on letting people touch my stuff.

And if youre wondering how I only have 5k on them in over a year, they were on a second set of rims for awhile that were not used....

                Re: Gotta get new tires

The Yokohamas that came with my car are rated terribly on Tirerack. So were the Bridgestoen Potenzas that came with my last one.

But they seem to have good rated ones as well. Dont know why one would be so good and one so bad from the same company.
