  • Need some "geek" help

I am running Leopard 5.2 on my new MacBook. When I go to Meguiar’s Company website, both Firefox and Safari will not respond to links within the website and I get the "spinning beach ball" and have to force quit the application. The link to Meguiar’s on Line works. So far it has been only The Meguiar’s Company website. I have had no problems with other websites, even very complex ones.

The Browsers have no problems with this the Meguiar’s Company website when I am using my old CRT iMac running Panther. What's up?

Additional information. When I go to Meguiar’s through the "back door" using google I have no problems. There is a video on the homepage that seems to be shutting the browsers down. I have no problems with videos on other sites.

Again, my old Imac has no problems with the video on the Meguiar’s home page.

Yes, I’ve posted this information on the Apple Forum, but I thought that there might be a “geek” or two who is into detailing.

    Hey Tom,

Not sure if this applies to your situation. I don't know that much about MAC. But.....I recently upgraded my PC and I am running Windows Vista. I cannot post any pics to threads or copy any links in posts while using Vista. I asked Mike about this but he has heard nothing about this kind of problem from anyone else. When I use my laptop running XP, I have no issues, or my work computer I also have no issues. I think it may have something to do with the operating system.

      Re: Need some "geek" help

I've been running a Mac next to my Windows machine for years, so both machines have had updates through various operating systems. Through it all I've always noticed that the Internet is not as Mac friendly in general as it is Windows friendly.

Another thing I've noticed is that sometimes the latest and greatest operating systems don't always work well with legacy applications (Windows Vista and, far worse in my opinion, OS-X when it first hit the streets) or, sometimes, with the Internet. There is most likely something in the new OS that doesn't like playing with the code on the specific web pages you're trying to view. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen it happen.

Have you looked into using Camino for your web browser? It's made by Mozilla specifically for Mac's. I'm on Leopard with every update going and haven't had any problems other than every now and then my RSS feed not updating for the forums.

Is Camino pretty much like Firefox because I sure do like Firefox?

I used the brains that it took me to get my Ph.D. and solved my Meguiar's Corporate homepage problem. I went to Goggle, connected directly to the Meguiar's products page and bookmarked it. I don't really "need no stinkin' homepage".

I have a MacBookPro with 10.5.2 and Firefox 2.0.0.12. I'm not having any problems. Weird
