I like which ever is easier to tape-off and detail. And whichever has the softest paint! (Some Viper paint I have worked on is as hard as glass!)

      i like the yellow one!

seriously though, each model has their good and bad stuff. like the first generation is reminiscent of the ol' Shelby Cobras. the second generation *TO ME* the front end looks like a muscular Honda S2000. but either body style you'll know it's a VIPER!

        Speaking of which,
These are the do's and don'ts of detailing Vipers.

        Let's call this lessons learned!!

Don't tape off black speaker grills on hoods. The tape will pull some of the paint off!!! Use a rag to cover!

Don't use PC behind grills towards windshield. The grill could dent. ( Haven't done this one yet, but it could happen.

Always cover the canvas roof!..... product with the PC, can still sling! #83 is hell to get out of the canvas!!!

Be careful when pulling up on the wiper blade to clean windshield. There is a small black cap that can break. This cap covers the wiper nut!

Don't get a rotary close to the lettering.

I seem to like the older body style more so than the newer. The older style just looks more...sexy and dangerous. I agree with a previous poster that the newer body looks too much like other cars out there. The older was so distinct.

I definitely like the older body style better. I don't know what it is about the new ones but when one pulls by me I just don't get the same feel as I do from the older ones. Though either could take me out no problem, the old ones give off more of an evil vibe which is what it is all about.
Dave I found it hilarious that both of the Vipers you showed were yellow. By the way your car is really blinding in the sun. The day I saw it I though my eyes were going to melt.

Honestly I'm not that big a fan of the Viper. But I think the older body was tougher and more in-your-face. Hence it gets my vote.

I have to agree with Aurora40, sometimes it's hard to improve upon the first generation, take the Camaro for example.

Of course, the prototype for the Viper didn't look anything like the the first models to roll off the assembly line, they utilized the front clip off a 1966 Chevrolet Truck and Chevy running gear throughout.

                    Early Viper Prototype

But after tweaking the design and switching to all Dodge component ry, the end result, while not retaining any of the original design, was perfect nonetheless.
