Emergency Detailing Kits - Would you be interested?

Hey everyone,

Well, I was browsing the forum today and I came up with an idea.

Tyler (Roushstage2) mentioned a while back about having a kind of emergency detailing kit. I think this would be a great package that I could put together.

Here's my ideas:

Spray detailer - Last Touch
Glass Cleaner - Detailer Glass Cleaner
Swirl / Scratch remover - #80
Protectant - #21 2.0
Interior dressing - #40
Spray cleaner - APC (or APC+)
Toweling - four microfibers
Applicator - yellow foam applicator
Painter's tape
Some sort of bag

I already have the majority of these products. The liquids would go in little spray bottles while I might find some larger ones for the cleaner and protectant.

The products I picked are up to debate. For example, ScratchX might be a good idea, but it only comes in the tube. Also, some may want #26 or a different protectant. The bag would have to be something small.

What do you think? Would this be something you would be interested in? The profit margin wouldn't be that high, but it could work if I sell enough.

I was hoping to set the kits at ~ $20, but it could depend on what I put in there. Also, I could substitute different items.

Hi,

for me that sounds perfect since I'm also using most of these products.
But my problem is, shipping to Germany would be very expensive (shipping costs, taxes,...).

Let's wait for the other's opinions .

I think its a great idea. I would tend to keep the Scratch-x in the kit instead of the 80. Why? It comes in the tube, on the go it would probably be easier to pack. I realize its more expensive. I would also keep a couple terry cloth towels. More bite if needed.

Sounds great. Don't forget some tire shine! Nothing worse than driving out to a photoshoot, local meet, or carshow... and realized you forgot to dress the tires!

Hmm... What if I put the ScratchX in there for an extra fee?

The most expensive part is going to be the bag. I really haven't started looking for that.

As far as bottles go, I found some 4oz for the protectant and tire gels. It works out to be about $0.75 each. For the liquids, I found some 4oz sprayer bottles for about $0.70 each.

What do you think about the sizes? Obviously, the larger the size, the higher the cost.

For this to work, I'm going to need atleast 20 people committed to purchasing a kit.

All of the bottles and the case are available at Wal-Mart. In fact, for around $15 you get the case and enough bottles to fill it, including a couple of bottles that would be perfect for transferring some ScratchX into. I picked up some additional spray bottles to round out the kit with the products I wanted. I carry one of these in each car.

The bag holds all the bottles in front....


...and I keep a few microfibers and an applicator pad on the inside.


The labels are further secured with some clear packing tape to keep 'em locked down.

I love that idea! Off to WalMart to pick up one of these! I also own the Griot's kit, which is in our "event" car. It is sized to fit inside the wheel well of the spare, which is really a great idea. However for our SUV daily driver's that idea doesn't work, since the spare is mounted under the car.

Mike, which section of Walmart was that bag in? I want to save my time when I get there to buy one.... all the Walmarts around here are HUGE.

Near the hair care products you'll find empty travel size bottles, and the bag was in that same general area. In my case, the travel bottles were in the aisle and the bag was against the side wall. Just saying they aren't necessarily right next to each other.

Mikes kit looks intrigueing. Having raised 2 daughters, I would say thats some type of make up bag. This is worth a look see at the local Wal-mart.

Keep in mind that not all Wal*Marts carry the same things.
Our local one no longer has the travel bottle selection that they once had. They have about 4 weird shaped small spray bottles and that's it. At one time they had 3 oz. flip top round bottles and normal small round spray bottles.

Heck, our WallyWorld still has lots of the original NXT in both liquid and paste. Still full price, still no 2.0.

Something I use is an empty plastic Planter's Peanuts jar. It's about 5" square, 6" high and has a wide mouth top. Holds several items and a couple of MF towels. My emergency kit is just that. Some glass cleaner, some QD, some APC.
The reason for the jar is for the possibility the products might freeze and spill in the vehicle. It has never happened, but if it does, the jar catches the spillage.
