  • This is the definition of "close call"

On Wednesday of this week, we had a wicked storm that came in about 3:00 a.m and lasted ALL DAY Wednesday into the evening. The winds were the big story as they were sustained at about 45 mph with gusts over 65 mph. One town not far from here recorded a gust of 81 mph. It was about 6:00 a.m Wednesday when our son ran in and said a tree blew down in our yard and just missed the neighbors house. It was a 40 foot maple that snapped right at the ground...could have been SOOOO much worse, everybody is ok ...thought I'd share some pictures. Today, Friday, rain, sleet, snow...gotta love winter in Buffalo !!

That is close! Good thing nobody was hurt and nothing happened to the house.

Enought to snap a 40' maple at the base but the swingset is still standing! That's what I call well-built.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

wow, would you rather have it hit your house, or your car?

                !!

We had a young lad I was helping out (he was in the juvenile system and know him from AWANA's in church), he is a tree faller and was cutting a tree down next to the house. Much to our horror, the tree twisted after giving good indication that it would fall where he wanted and landed on the house, actually laid quite softly and only bent a gutter. He freaked out! I told him no worries. No harm done. whew!!! He said well, I won't charge you for that tree. He's a good kid trying to do good and has a kid now so I help him when I can.

Glad no one got hurt and your house is fine.

Yes it was certainly a piece of divine intervention to be sure....it could have easliy tilted 1 degree to the left and taken out a good section of my neighbors roof...
