Hey all,
Finals are this week and I have a short answer based on a prompt as part of the my History final. She gave us three prompts, she will choose one, and we get 30 minutes and 1 side of 1 piece of paper to answer that prompt to the best of our ability. Here are the three prompts...
#1
“The voice of the people has been said to be the voice of God; and, however generally this maxim has been quoted and believed, it is not true to fact. The people are turbulent and changing, they seldom judge or determine right.” Alexander Hamilton
Question: Explain the constitution in context with this quote. Hint see Federalist Paper Number 9.
#2
“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Emma Lazarus, 1883, the New Colossus.
Question: Discuss the course of immigration from about 1876-1925.
#3
“Speak softly and carry a big stick.” Teddy Roosevelt
Question: Explain our foreign policy from 1898 to 1914.
We all think she is going to choose the second one because she absolutely loves the topic of immigration. But there was an assignment on the Federalist Paper #9 as well as the foreign policy that every body failed (and I mean everybody), so we are also thinking that she will choose one of those to make sure that we actually learned it. But then again she will have 120 papers to read in 3 days, so she will probably want to read about something she likes.
Anybody have some good answers for any of the prompts?
I have a pretty good start on them...
