  • Which would you prefer 0*F or 100*F?

As I sit here in the deep freeze I was contemplating this. On the one hand at 0 one can layer and be warm, but at 100 one can strip to your undies and still be hot.

I have to go with the heat! I get more done OUTSIDE when it is hot than when it is cold.

Tried the whole strip down to your undies thing, the neighbors didn't appreciate it that much.

Hot is much better. Washing the car is nice because the water can cool you down. When you wash the car in the cold, the water makes you feel freezing cold and it is awful. Being from texas, there is nothing like washing a car on a hot day and drinking some ice cold lemonade.

Gotta represent the north here a little and say the cold. The cold is nice because you can always go inside to escape it. While if it's hot it tends to be muggier everywhere even with AC. Plus who likes to sweat even when you're sitting there doing nothing.

As far as washing a car goes, both are probably bad, but I go cold here as well. If you have a decent coin-op you can go to you are fine. I usually have a nice fire going in the garage and it stays pretty warm. Good topic.

As one who's lived in California and Pennsylvania (where it's 22 degrees as I write), I'll gladly take the 100F -- at least I could detail in my garage, enjoying a couple of blowing fans and a tall, cold one!

As I am currently "enjoying" the 20's here in the town I grew up in, I never question why I moved to Phoenix. I never liked the cold.

I agree with Deaner5's points and would probably vote 0* in the summer but I've been freezing all week. So I vote 100*, bring on the heat. It's been below 0 for the last two weeks or so here. I was out shoveling the driveway with -30*F windchills.

Yeah, I have been going back and forth on this. After this cold snap I am ready for some higher temps! But if that 100*F has a lot of humidity with it no thanks.
My car is so dirty from the snow and ice. I have been longing to do a detail.

I would have to say 100 degrees. I don't like to cold at all and I don't like the heat, but I would rather be hot in the summer than cold in the winter. You could always go inside to cool off or warm up but for me cooling off is alaways easier than warming up. Has to do with once your hands and feet get really cold the bone cold feeling takes a long time to go away.

I went with the 0 degree option. It is easier for me to heat up than cool down.

I voted for 0, but if I could have low humidity, 100 F would be more tolerable. Driving in 0 degrees not as fun as you must worry about snow/ice. Detailing in 100 degrees not fun at all. Zero is better for detailing because I have a heated garage with a floor drain. I don't have AC in the garage but would like to LOL!

Ask this same question in the heat of summer and I bet the results would be different.

I agree. I grew up in Michigan so I know cold all too well. I've been here in SoCal for almost 18 years now and I just don't miss the cold at all. With that cold comes snow, and with the snow comes salt and other crud on the roads and ultimately on the car. Out here we don't have the humidity that heat brings to other parts of the country so it's nowhere near as bad. Hey, I have relatives outside of Houston so I know that feeling of 100 degrees and 99% humidity - no thanks.

Originally from Chicago. I know cold and bitter wind chills. Now that I live in Florida, heat and high humidity are standard operating procedure. Bring on the heat! It is one of the main reasons I moved here. Just a side note. The weather in Chicago yesterday was -0 wind chills. Down here I was wearing shorts and I finished detailing the wifes car. Oh give me the heat. lol.

Why make the choice at all? When it's cold in the north I migrate south. When it's hot in the south I migrate back north.

As I write this, it's -6° in my WI hometown and 71° here in southern FL.

My car appreciates the migration too as it doesn't need to tend with road salt, snow and slop.
