So, are you saying the high bidder backed out and then the seller contacted you and you closed the deal without using ebay? You just sent the money via PayPal? If so, I'm afraid you've learned a hard lesson. ebay won't do a darn thing if that's how the transaction went down, but if you were the winning bidder and the seller pulled this stuff ebay wouldn't stand for it. They've gotten much better at dealing with this sort of thing. Oddly enough, even though they now own PayPal, PayPal still can be a bugger to deal with when things go bad.

Yes, the buy backed out and I was offered the watch by the seller.

The thing is that I technically purchased the watch off Timezone where it was originally listed. On Timezone, the description (which I was going off) was incorrect. You're right Mike, the second chance offer was stupid on my part. Then again, I was sniped with 3 seconds left, so I can close to making the same mistake.

How much do you want to for the 'lesson?' ...kidding of course...

I'm probably going to set up a thread on Timezone discussing the whole ordeal.

Had a guy who wanted the 2-wheel drive Blazer, so for the right price we let him have it. This one looks and reads to be pretty nice. We pick it up on Sunday.

Bummer Chris! If it does turn out to be fake or stolen I would for sure contact his local police department. Wish I could give you better advice.

Oh, I don't think that's a fair comment at all. If Chris has found a market for these watches and the buyers are either too lazy or just unwilling to search properly and are happy to pay the price he's asking, there's nothing wrong with it at all. I know people who do this with cars, and it's very common around here for folks to make the rounds of garage sales and pick up lawn equipment (lawn mowers, leaf blowers, etc) and haggle for the lowest price then turn around and resell them for higher prices at local flea markets. Chris is just the middle man in the process with these watches - sort of taking a finders fee if you will. I don't think there's anything wrong with this at all.

It's no different than me buying a light for a job and charging the customer a higher price for it when it's installed. There is nothing wrong in making a profit if the goods are good shape.

Yea, I agree. You can't honestly tell me that it costs Honda $800 to install a cabin air filter. They buy it and hike up the price in order to make profits. Like Mike said, if your too lazy to check around to see if it costs $800 to install one, then your obviously not all there in the brain or have more money then sense. E-Z Lube used the same exact part (I checked the part #) and charged my mom $60 to install it. $60 vs. $800...little bit of a difference.
