    Re: Truck Is Detailed...

Thanks so much everyone. You guy's&girl's are a great inspiration.

Woke up this morning only to find this done with my hard work(the very next day,"vandalism"). It is most certainly down to the primer. New paint on the hood looks like the order of the day. Gunna call ins co.

i think someone hates u..... either that or theres some really bored kids with bad parents in your area... or supporters of green peace....

that needs to be sanded down all the way to metal and then resprayed primer and all or the scratch would still be visible.....

hope it looks just like new after its fixed.... I would feel like someone just stab me w/ knife if i saw that on my cars.....

        Here is what happened:

I live in an open community(not gated or anything) where code enforcement is extremley strict. The neighbors across the street from me are at odds with me becuse they think I had called code enforcement on them a few times, but my good friend neighbor(neighbor around the block) had told me that the guy next door to me(old guy next to me) called enforcement on them. So I firmly believe that the people across from me told someone within the family to scratch up my truck. I can't prove it, but I know that is what happened. I went nuts my truck and had it looking the best it ever looked only to have it get a big booboo. Now it needs to go to the hospital . I'm afraid it is gunna happen again after it's repaired. I would love to ditch the stock hood and get an SRT10 hood(used if possible) or buy a SRT10 type scoop and have it bondo'd it fixed(permanant) to the hood.

if u are paranoid enough..... mount a security camera somewhere that can see your truck... if it happens again... you got ur culprit....

just some $50 night vision equiped security camera hooked up to a old vcr that you dont even use anymore....one or 2 tapes that you can just keep reusing...

            Re: Truck Is Detailed...

            Just a small update:
Ins guy came and acessed the damage and cut me a check for $490.00. He has been doing bodywork for about 17yrs before he had to leave it because of life altering injury while doing somones car(hand tool slipped&sliced his arm open, he showed me), so he is in the damage portion of ins. He said to me, for a novice homeowner your cars look a 1000 times better than alot of detailers&bodyshops I know. My reply to him was that I have a 1000 people at MG online that assisted me to get that look. So, instead of repairing my stock hood, I brought me a mopar SRT10 Hood with the molded scoop. Getting it color matched red. It goes in the shop tomarrow and I should have it by thursday. I'm going to try and sell my stocker. Again, many thanks to all of you for you very valued support&understanding.

            Regards:
            Don

              Hey Don,

Sorry to hear about the vandalism. It's painful to see all your work marred by some unfriendly neighbors.

As for the old hood, you could use it as a practice panel if you decide to get a rotary.

              Best of luck!

                Hey Don,

That really stinks, what they did to your truck. It is senseless! I know this from experience. Someone set my trash on fire one evening while my car was parked next to it. The flames, blew directly towards my car and melted the rear bumper and tail lights. Luckily I got out there before I lost the whole car. I wish I had taken pictures but I was so upset that I wasn't thinking. The damage: $1200.00, $500.00 of which came out of my pocket! Hopefully, when you get you truck back it will look as good as new Bud.

old hood would be fun to practice wetsanding/rotary/touch up/painting..... i wonder how much it cost to chrome the whole hood... that would be kind of cool looking..... after you kill the paint on it experimenting....

sorry to hear about your hood, but I agree with chris, andy and benhui about using it for a practice hood to learn touch-up, wet sanding and learning the rotary.

Hey, nice idea on the hood, but I don't have a powerful enough compressor&gun setup. cfm's are 4.2@90/5.1@40+I was told that factory clear simply does not have enough clear to wetsand and that you would need to layer one more to be able to wetsand. Both the ins guy&my bodyshop said that to repair the stock hood it would need to be featheredged just beyond the scratches and the whole hood cleared. I'd rather just try and sell it to make back a portion of what I brought the SRT10 for.
