Do any of you run folding@home on your computers?

Reason I ask is with my new PS3 it gives the option of running it during the down time. I used to run it on my work computer at my last job but haven't for the last few years. It seems like a really good cause and could help people.

We could start a Meguiar's Online team. It's free and really easy to do. Might was well use the extra processing power of our computers for something good ,right!

So who's in? (Don't install it yet, let's get a team first. If you want to do it.)

    I'd be up to it.

Cool! You should be able to processing some data pretty darn quick with your set up.

The Meguair's Online team number is 104332. When you install the software it will ask for a team number and a user name. If you use the same user names as on MOL we will know who is who. I hope I set it all up right. We should have a logo and everything.

Basically it looks for a cure for many diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, BSE (mad cow disease), cancer, Huntington's disease, cystic fibrosis and other aggregation-related diseases. It's run by Stanford University. Instead of them having to buy and run more super computers they offer a small program to download that we can all run at home to help. It's the largest distributed computing cluster in the world. It's pretty cool how it runs on your computer, it doesn't slow it down at all. It's set as the lowest priority so it only uses processing power when nothing else needs it.

I cut and pasted parts of that from here... Folding@Home - Wikipedia

How far are you guys? I'm at step 68 (1020000 of 1500000)

Atleast it's a good stress test for my computer - that Thermalright heatsink keeps temps under 32c.

...maybe if I clocked it back to 3.6ghz then it would go faster...

Where to you see the steps? Mine has frames completed 240/1500. That's on my work computer, I left in on all last night too. I think it's a 1.8Ghz with 512 mb ram. I cleaned off my hard drive the other night and reinstalled windows last night at home, should be back up and running by tomorrow night.

                  Re: Folding@home?

All I got when I downloaded the package was a DOS prompt. Then again, I don't know what's supposed to come in the package.

After running for 15 hours, I tried to do a print screen and the program shut down. Now, I'm starting over...

There are two versions. The command line and graphic. It sounds like you downloaded the command line version. The graphic one give me a cool screen saver. lol
