Re: anyone in here workout
I work out sometimes. It makes it rough because I work at a gym full time. It probably seems that would make it easy, but after being at the gym all day, I really don't feel like working out after I get off work. Also, I recognize so many people, a lot of times I end up talking instead of working out. Sometimes I'll go later at night and work out, though. It's usually cardio and a little weight training. I just got myself a kettlebell recently, so I've been doing that lately. It's fun change from the normal work out, and it's neat because it combines weight training and cardio at the same time. I was fortunately brought up on a healthy diet, so I haven't really changed that any....I'm used to eating healthy food.
That's good that you are sticking with it. I see a lot of people that last no longer than a month. It's actually kind of depressing, because I see so many people that would really benefit from a regular exercise program, but they just don't stick with it.Lydia's Mobile Detailing

Re: anyone in here workout
I really should get back into it. It's just so much work.
I've been going to physical therapy 3 times a week for the last month or so for a hip problem, think I'll quit going and join a gym soon. I've already spent way more on PT than a year membership at a gym would cost. I honestly never felt better than when I went to the gym. Energy levels where up, I could fall asleep at night and stay sleeping, felt refreshed when I woke up...Scott

Re: anyone in here workout
I keep telling myself I'm going to get back on a bike one of these days, but I sort of had my fill of it throughout the 1990s. I raced both road bikes and mountain bikes (I'm talking bicycles here - I was the motor) for 10 years and even did a little time with a fixed gear track bike. But my training involved some 300 - 400 miles per week, mostly in the local mountains. I had a resting heart rate of 36 beats per minute but could maintain a rate of 186 bpm during a 90 minute climb. I used to eat so well, but as you can imagine the sheer amount of food I consumed was staggering!! I'm 6' 1" and back then I weighed a mere 159lbs but I was taking in 4000 to 7000 calories per day!!! And I wasn't a kid either - I started all this when I was 29 and stopped 10 years later so I was in waaaay better shape at, say, 37 than I was at 24 or 25.
My problem with getting back into it now is really a mental issue - I know I wouldn't be anywhere near as strong as I was back then, and I know I wouldn't have to spend anywhere near that amount of time in the saddle because I wouldn't be racing now, but somehow I'd feel like I wasn't living up to my own expectations in my current state of......ah, fitnessless (or would that be fitnesslessness???). Oh well, one of these days.

Re: anyone in here workout
Yes for me at least 3x a week weight training for about 1/2 hr, and always try to keep my diet higher in protein, moderate fat and keep carbs fairly low. I try to keep the naughty foods early in the day, drink ample water, and minimize fat and carbs at nighttime. This is the best regiment to get lean if you maintain it. But once a week I'll eat whatever without worrying then right back to eating clean.

You sort of just motivated me, I figured I was too old to get in good shape. I'm 32 now, that's not too far off from when you said you started. I'm sure somewhere there is someone with a similar story of starting at your age now. Come on Mike you can do it! You might not be in the shape you once where but you will be better than you are now.Scott

Re: anyone in here workout
I work out about 5 times a week and do cardio about 4 days out of the week. My biggest problem has been transitioning from heavy lifting to more light weight but higher rep workouts. I actually stopped playing college football last year and I was around 235 lbs and I weighed myself at new years and I now weigh 194 so I am really proud I was able to lose that bulk weight but still keep most of my strength. Biggest thing was diet for me, eat until I am content nothing more about 6 times a day and obviously a ton of cardio.

Re: anyone in here workout
Thanks SSTG, yeah I know what you mean about being in the mindset for heavy weight. I still get the urge to try and max on bench and only do 2-4 reps but I force myself to keep it low and do between 12-15 reps. I got a workout plan from a friend whos a trainer at another college so its forcing me to stick straight to it.
