Tough Love vs. Spanking ~
(a psychological conundrum)

It seems that these days most Americans think it is improper to spank children, so over the years I tried other methods to control my kids when they had one of "those moments."

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.

They usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with one of my kids, in case you would like to use the technique.

Haha, yea, I would say that would calm him down.

I was always beat.. I mean whipped.. and I still believe in it... If I can do it without going to jail I will whip my kids when I do have kids.

That would calm me down for sure. I always wanted to try it.

I used to tell my kids when they were younger that when we left the store and got to the car, Dad don't forget....they used to sweat on the way to the car. LOL.

My mother also used the "your going to get it when we get to the car" trick with me. If I kept acting up and forgot what she had said then it was WHAM BAMB CRACK where did that come from. It only took a few times then I got the idea don't get MOM mad. My BUT still hurts thinking about it. OUCH!!!!!!!!

I remember when I was younger, my sisters and I would fight over who would get to sleep in the back window ledge of my dads' '53 Chevy! If it got too out of hand he'd slow down and ask if we'd like to walk for a mile or so! And talk about being squeezed in with four heavy smokers! Ahh, the good old days!
