I just want to see what other people will come up with for a future collector car. I think my Mustang may be a collector car someday (30-40 years). That is a long time but who knows. It has every GT option in that year.

Re: what do you think will be a future collector car?
Pontiac GTO, Not alot made over a 3 year span due to poor sales, but im looking to help that out some. :-) Give it 25 years.....you'll see them popping up for some high prices.
VW Phaeton will be someday as well. High luxury, low sales, at least in the US. They are still selling in Europe.
Buick Reatta, only 21175 made in 3 years.
Lincoln Blackwood, only 3356 sold total.
Mercury Marauder, only made for 3 years and hailed as a "return to muscle""I drink windex........it keeps me from streaking."

Re: what do you think will be a future collector car?
Hmmm... It's really tough to think about all the different choices.
Here are my picks:
-Ford GT will become very collectable since it is very well constructed
-first year Vipers
-Porsche 914
-Ford Mustang Cobra R (already is, but there will be more following)
-Lamborghini LM004
-6 pack Mopar cars - in my opinion, the 442 is more streetable than the HEMI
-Panoz Esperante
-Porsche 996 GT3
-Porsche 993 Targa
-Lotus Esprit Twin Turbo
-Buick Riveria - for Joe
-Ford T-Bird - the newer model
And of course, the super exotics: Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari Enzo, Pagani Zonda F, Koenigsegg CCX, Jaguar XJ220, McLaren F1, Porsche 911 GT1, Ford Gt, MB SLR, Lamboghini Murcielago, and finally the Porsche 959.
I totally forgot about the Maruader. I loved that stealthy / cop package!!!Chris

Re: what do you think will be a future collector car?
-1990-1995 (especially 93-95) BMW M5. Last hand built BMW and the last "big six"
-Any car pre-1975
-VW Phaeton for sure! That thing IS still an incredible car that was, and still is well beyond its time!
There are a lot more...I am bored typing now.

Re: what do you think will be a future collector car?
I agree on the Ford GT. People will talk about how you could buy one from a Ford Dealer for around $160,000 back in the day and people will shake thier heads. Kind of like they do now with 60's Cobras & Shelby Mustangs.
Another car that I think will be a collector car will be the '03-'04 Cobra's & Mach 1's. Finding one that has not been adulterated and is stock will be difficult, but those cars will be collectable.
Don't forget the Prowler. People will look at that car and wonder how a car company could make it given the many car requirements mandated by goverment at the time.Mark

Re: what do you think will be a future collector car?
87-93 Mustang GT... There's already a restoration market for these, with several vendors reproducing parts. Lots of cars made, hugely popular with the younger crowd. As those people age, they WILL want to recapture their youth, just like the 65-73 Mustang people did...
I've noticed that the Fox-body Saleens are already rising in price...
Oh, and anything Saleen, Roush or SVT... Even better when you can find a Saleen Cobra or Roush Cobra. YES, they DID make a few dozen each year....

Sometimes I wonder about my truck. They only made the AWD model in 2003 & 2004, 2005 was an option. So that's only about 10,000 or so made. Now they don't make the SS at all anymore, just from 2003-2006. The fastest production truck that GM ever made! Or so I read somewhere.Scott

Re: what do you think will be a future collector car?
as soon as I saw your name Saleen, i thought shoot, i knew i forgot the Saleen.
you're totally right. i love that car.
but the 69' stang still rocks.
i saw one last night. in a barn. all covered up. probably 3 inches of dust on the car cover. a dull british racing green. 5 inches of dust on the car itself. all woodships and everything around it. i didn't want to uncover it all because then i'd really want it. but it was sick.
a hidden gem.
