We're going to create a forum just for restoring single stage paint which is usually found on classic cars, older than 1980

So many times when someone buys a classic car, for example pulls the proverbial antique Corvette out of the barn, (it happened on this forum), the questions are always

"How to restore the original paint"

With the goal being to do it in such a way as to take the paint to it's maximum potential without doing any harm so as to "Preserve" the original paint.

On a personal note, this is my favorite type of detailing and we know many of you have a passion for this also, so it's going to get a dedicated forum.

We still need a name however...

I like that one too. I can't wait for this one. My parents neighbor has 4 old cars that are in need of some TLC. He loves Meguiar's products too. I don't want to touch them till I know what I am doing.

Is there any way to do like sub categories, or make the forum list able to expand/collapse?... scrolling down that forum list is getting a bit long these days... Though I usually just go off the new posts window anyway.

The goal has been to "Thin" out the forum groups, we know it's kind of overwhelming and part of the problem is that since we're a manufacture we are responsible to provide information about our multiple products lines as well as forums for new products as they are introduced each year.

So far we've focused on creating the "Ample" amount of groups, as we progress we'll try to keep things tight.

Don't remember if there's an option to make the forum groups collapsible, but we're looking into it.

Confirmed.

You can collapse forum categories at least in IE, the button for this however doesn't seem to appear for FireFox at least from my initial check.

Also doesn't appear in SeaMonkey

Sounds exciting, I can't wait!

Just some ideas to throw into the mix...

Garage - about garage stuff, floor coatings, storage, lighting, air compressors, etc...

Motorcycle - about motorcycle detailing

Both have been created.

How about splitting up the "101" forum into interior and exterior forums.

Wait and see how you like the new Detailing 101 forum.

how about a section from different Countries.

North America - USA, Canada

etc...

Um... not yet... good idea... not yet...

Maybe even go a step further with sub forums for different areas, ie Northeast, Southwest, etc... Just a thought.

When we open the new forum there is a thread already created for comments, suggestions and feedback, after looking through the forum categories let us know what you think and what additions or subtractions need to be made.

I stole this idea from TweakTown, but I really like the idea.

What if we have a 'What Should I Buy?' section? That would be really cool. Just a thought.

A 'Rumors and Speculation' section wouldn't be too bad.

What about an 'Incompatabilities and Issues' or 'Product Comparison' section? maybe...

Anyways, I am truly impress with the amount of work put into keeping this forum alive and kicking!!! It is always well regulated; there are hardly any problems with the code and misinformation is followed up. The real life experience is always a MAJOR plus considering everyone is a detailer!!!

i'm not sure i'm a fan of the rumour thread.

it may lead to other problems in the future.

if its about sports and what not sure that's cool, but sometimes rumours can get carried away.

i.e Mike's leaving Meguiars and returning. remember what happened there.
