but seriously, the above mentioned, my old '64 Chevy pick-up has a slight sag on the doors and the door pins are shot. That seems to be the biggest culprit with sagging doors, with exception to loose bolts or damage from an impact that wasn't fixed right

Re: what creates door sag
well mike i was just wondering because my 97 mustang has door sag and i was just wondering how it was caused. you can really tell that it has it. i looked at the hinges and it looks like the bolts are loose and looks like it is separating and i don't know how that could happen unless the door had pressure put on it. the car was never in an accident. i car faxed it so i am guessing it is from age.Alex

Not sure on your exact vehicle but, quite often there are little bushings that wear out and can be replaced. If you are not familiar, bushings prevent the hinge pin from wearing, the hinge pin rotates in the bushing... the bushings (plastic/brass/whatever) are made of a softer material than the hinge pin itself thus wearing the bushing out and not the hinge pin. They also help provide a nice smooth operation of the door. The plastic bushings don't last at all others are brass and last much longer.Brandon

To reverse the effects of gravity which could be causing door sag simply flip the car over.
