What do you think is the best sports car engine oil?

What brand of engine oil do you think is the best? I drive a BMW and BMW recommends Castrol, but i dont know why, i have seen other oils like Vavoline racing and i really want to try it, but i want to know what is the best brand for SPORTS CARS! we all know that sports cars take more abuse then avarage cars so the reason i put emphasis on oil for spots cars is because the best oil for a truck is not necessarily the best for a sports car.

I use Castrol in my VQ30DE as well, very good oil! I also like Mobil 1, Mobil 1 is recommended by a lot of high end performance minded manufacturers , such as Porsche and Mercedes. Its also the official motor oil of NASCAR, and most NASCAR teams use Mobil and those V-8 engines consistently turn 9,500 RPMs.

Yeah, Mobil 1 would be on the top of the list for me. Tons of new exotics start out with Mobil 1 - all Porsches and Vipers and many many others.

You also forgot those guys who use Royal Purple, Shell Rotella, and Pennzoil. I don't use these, but others probably have. Royal Purple is soooo expensive - $8 a quart???

For me price isnt an issue, i just want the best stuff i an get. I will research mobil 1 though.

After doing some researching i have narrowed it down to these 4 brands, Castrol, Royal Purple, Red line and Q-Power. After looking around I find these brands the most attractive. These brands can give you up to 10 extra BHP even in a new car, according to independent dyno studies. Its so hard to choose, im not sure which one is the best . I love Q powers website, it looks really good. BMW recommends castrol. royal purple has many independent studies that show the benefits. Its too hard to choose! They all sound so good! Maybe i should mix them all up and make a super oil!

gb387 i use only bp gas, because my money that they get don't go to iraq. and as for oil i've raced my mustang 5.0 for some time and i drive it to the track and back home! mobile 1 is it for me too

I use Mobil 1 exclusively in my turbo charged 2004 PT Cruiser since the turbo is oil cooled and dead dinosaur juice has a tendency to coke up and get nasty under such extreme heat conditions. I beat on the thing pretty hard, so even though oil change intervals are supposed to be lengthened when using Mobil 1, I still change every 3000 miles. Then again, I only put about 7500 miles per year on the car, so it's not like it's costing me a fortune.

I also use Mobil 1 in my 1999 Miata (it routinely sees 7000 rpms), but I use a "high mileage" oil in our 1992 Camaro and 1987 Chrysler Fifth Avenue.

Mobil1 Full Synthetic every 3 months or 3,000 miles. Yes I overkill it

Castrol syntec or royal purple I think are the best. I like to put oil brands with good reputation in my car.
