  • Engine Swap info

    Hey guys,

sometime in the near future I will be swapping the 4cyl out of my Ranger with an EFI 302 engine. I've learned that the 96-97 V8 model explorers are the easiest way to do it. My Ranger has a AOD tranny mated to a 2.5L 4banger. Putting power to the ground is provided by a Ford 8.8" rearend. What I'm not so sure of is the driveshaft. Some other forum buddies not on here but on a different forum have told me that I could probably get away with my stock driveshaft. Now when I swap the engines I need to know for sure if the stock driveshaft will work.

The explorer is basically no more than a Ranger with a cap on it and rear bench seat. As far as frame design and overall structure the Ranger and the Explorer are very similar to one another. My Ranger is a 98 regular cab flareside. Has anyone here swapped there engines before?? maybe I can get some info or advice from people who have experience with this. Thanks,,,,,deadman98

sounds like your lost. Not so much by asking an engine swapping question on a detailing forum but by wasting all that time on a FORD! -LOL!!!!

      Hey,

I'm just asking man, just to see if I could maybe get some info from someone on this forum who has done it before. So chill out!

As far as Fords go, there just as good as the others. No better, no worse. There all good trucks, they all last a long time if you take care of them. Everyone has there opinions bro but I think there all good trucks. I'm sure you can understand where I'm coming from. So it's all good ,,,,,,deadman98

find an explorer and measure the shaft, then measure yours.
