  • Modified bottle

Several MOL Members have discussed a better way to measure soap when washing the car. This modification works very good, take a 32 oz bottle of Laundry Detergent such as all small & mighty and remove the PLASTIC label which will leave you with a clean and shinny white bottle. Label your bottle and place your favorite soap in the bottle. The cap will make it very easy to measure and clean up since left over soap will drip back into the bottle (no rinsing required)

      I like it!
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

That is a good idea! Something like that would be great to put in a detail bag when going to detail a customer's vehicle.

That's funny that you posted this. I've been doing this for quite a while. Funny thing is I'm using the exact bottles you are. They are a great size and pouring from them is so easy. No more runs down the side of the bottle. Never thought of posting about it, but then again I'm not the brightest crayon in the box.

Good thinking...like the bottle and label, almost looks like its a lab sample or something.

                what size is the cap?

Although I don't have a picture, an empty Stabil bottle might even be better. It has two caps. One to fill the bottle. the other is on a molded-in measuring cylinder. You could fill up the bottle with soap, squeeze it to fill the marked cylinder asnd then empty the cylinder into your bucket.

                    Re: Modified bottle

Depending on what mark you fill the cap to, you can get 1 oz or 1-1/2 oz. The nice thing about this particular Laundry Detergent bottle is that when you look at it, it looks like the labeling is painted on, but it is actually a plastic label that is shrink wrapped around the bottle and comes off very easy. Maybe in the future, Meguiar's might consider this type of design for their car wash products.

                      Re: Modified bottle

The bottles STG is talking about are available from US plastics.

I don't know if you guys have this, but Black Magic makes a wash bottle just like that.

If I am hand washing at home I have a yogurt container measured out with 5oz, but if i am at the car wash, I will just eyeball it.
