Re: If you live in New England, please pray and help if you can!

OK bare with my spelling as it is 1am and I am slightly drunk.

Tonight we went to their house and had dinner. There was a memorial service at his college. Manhattanville in Purchase, NY. (border town)

The father is a wreck, I feel so bad for them right now (even though I am indirectly relate)

The cause of death was ruled as suicide so it is very troubling for all.

Tomorrow is the wake after work, then Saturday is the funeral/memorial.

And as for my gf. I could think of no one greater to be there for. The night my grandfather passed we had a big family gathering (20+) and the women had a cookie bake and drank wine while the guys stayed in the basement with darts, pool, cards, and beer. Great family fun! It was December 10th 2006 and we all left around 9-10pm. That night according to my grandmother, my grandfather was up pacing until almost 2am. That night when we were with him, he seemed so lively and just happy to have everyone together. My uncle had recently (one year ago) moved back to CT from Virginia Beach. So my grandmother awoke at around 8am and my grandfather was not awake. It was not until 8:30am that she realized something was wrong. I got the call shortly after. I was with my gf at her house in bed when she got a phone call, she woke me up, came to my side and told me she had something to tell me. I have never cried so hard in my life. A 25 year old male, who lost his matriarch, the family brick. We went to his house, I could not contain it. Even at the funeral as a paul bearer, me and my other cousins and brother all broke down and had the cry of our life. This shows you are a true man by the way. I miss him so much. Robert Whelan Sr. was a saint, a cop, a father, grandfather, and just the a person I hope to be when I get older.

Anyways, not to bore you, but no christmas will be the same, I visit his grave at least once a week and say my prayers for him often. I can do nothing now but be strong and help my gf through this time and her family friend as well. It makes me feel welcome to know that they appreciate my being there.

So true. Having lost my father just a year ago, and my older brother three years ago, I know all too well what you are going through now and have gone through recently. All I can say is time makes it easier, though never easy. God bless.
