  • Online banking-billpay-yay or nay

Who does this? I am thinking about going ahead and starting. Just kinda nervous about security. I have contacted my bank and they offer it.
Looks like it would save time and stamps.

I use it all the time and have been using it for a few years now and wouldn't give it up! I never mail any bills all get paid from my banks website. One thing I really like about it... If the amount you are paying towards a credit card or what ever you can schedule multiple payments months and months out and never have to worry about them, payments are set and bank takes care of everything from there.

I have been using BillPay through my bank for over five years and prior to that I was using a BillPay service for over 10 years without ever having a single problem. I use Quicken Home/Business Software to keep track of personal as well as business transactions and just love it.

I'm on my 11th year of using online payment. Started in 96 using CheckFree through my bank, back then it was direct dial-up to CheckFree, no internet involved. You will have hiccups here and there but no more, in fact probably less than if you did paying via standard mail. Stuff still can get lost but with online banking there is always an electronic trail and almost always someone to point the finger at.

I do it too, and all my financial info is kept in Quicken. I write maybe one check a month, and haven't even made an entry into my checkbook register in at least 7 years. With Quicken I connect to my bank, credit card accounts, etc and update everything regularly. I can effectively balance my checking account any day of the month.

Check out the savings account interest rate on some of those online banks. You can find interest as high as 5%. Try plugging that into a savings calculator versus the 1% you`re probaly getting with your bank.

We also use the net to pay bills and have never had an issue.

Tried it out today! Opened a bill and it said I did not pay it last month. Went to my account on-line and found the check and when it was posted. Sold!!

Since I have been using it I have never had a single problem, I have had problems with mailing checks. Not sure if all bill pays are the same but its a must to have all your bills at hand to get started for the addresses and account numbers.

I write one check every three weeks get my hair cut only because they only take cash or check no debit/credit cards.
