Urgent Directions Required

Hi there all

I will be arriving in America in April and will be attending the one of the Meguiars Saturday detailing classes.

As I am coming from New Zealand my street savoy for LA is not good.

Can some one please let me know how to get from The Carousel Inn & Suits Hotel to the Meguiars head office. Also what would be the quickest, cheapest and safest way??? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

An early welcome to California.

A quick Googling suggests your hotel is right at Disneyland on Harbor Blvd. Is that the one? If so it’s a piece of cake.


Head up Harbor Blvd to the 5 freeway.

Take the 5 freeway southbound to the 55 freeway southbound

Take the 55 freeway southbound to MacArthur Blvd

Exit on MacArthur Blvd and turn left at the bottom of the offramp, go under the freeway

on the other side of the freeway turn right on Fitch (the first light)

go down a few blocks on Fitch (past Mitchell North) to Mitchell South

Meguiar’s is on the corner of Fitch and Mitchell South

turn left on Mitchell South and immediately right into the parking lot

Irvine, CA 92614

For a Saturday morning class there should be no traffic at all. The whole trip should only take around 15 minutes. For a Wednesday night open garage you’ll be in rush hour traffic and will take longer.

note: that’s the fast way, without traffic anyway. The simplest way is to just drive south on Harbor and turn left on MacArthur, then the rest is the same. It’s simple, but there are tons of lights. So it will take twice as long.

We spoke with Smurf over the phone about this and since we're a native from Oregon we suggested that he post these requests for information to our forum and some of you that really know your way around California could and would chime in and help out.

Hitching a ride with somebody is going be the most fun (and cheapest ) way. Kudos to LacViet for stepping up to the plate. If it doesn’t work out with him maybe somebody else who’ll be attending your same class will be able to pick you up.

One of the local cab companies (California Yellow Cab) has a fare estimator on their site that guessed about $33 to $38 (plus tip) each way. So you’re looking at a little under a hundred round trip.

Public transportation around SoCal is usually pretty lame but at least you’re staying in a hotspot. Poking at Orange County Transit Authority’s website it looks like it would take about four buses and around an hour and a half. On the plus side, a one day bus pass is only three bucks.

Around here I always recommend renting a car if it’s at all possible. It’s rare that you’d find everything you want to see and do easily accessible without one. Yeah, we drive on the other side of the road here. I know it’s a hassle to just dive in and do it but it’s usually worthwhile.

It would be best if you can rent a car so that you can go to other place (Hollywood, Universal Studio, Beach, etc..) during far away vacation trip. Since there will be couple more months, let me know around the end of March if you still need a lift to Meguiars. I won't be bore at the class that's for sure!

Yes if you are going to attend the class, I would like to take you up on your offer for a ride to Megs
We had looked at renting a car but there is 11 of us coming over (only me going to Megs)most of our trips have been planed which will be done by bus.
That way we cant get lost

yes but getting lost and driving on the other side of the road at the same time, well anything could happen
plus the population of our country is probably only 1/3 of your city
New Zealand has only just toped the 4 million people
