jezroj, you have an option open to you that most folks don’t. Being in San Diego you’re within relatively easy driving distance of Meguiar’s. You can sign up for a detailing class or an open garage session (when they start up again) and try out a different wax on every panel of your car. (You’ll want to wash/clay/clean at home before coming up so you can concentrate on waxing while you’re here.)

Just to make a comment on this splinter in the thread, Meguiar's spray-on waxes work great but they require two things,
      • The right condition finish to apply the product
      • The right technique to apply the product

The waxes are only really to be used on a finish that is in excellent condition and already has a base coat of wax to start with. By excellent condition, we mean the paint is either on a brand new car, it's brand new paint that is over 30 days old, or it's an older paint or older car but the paint has been professionally cleaned, polished and waxed so it's like a brand new car or a brand new paint job.

When our spray waxes are used on paint in excellent condition, and applied using the correct technique they work awesome and with practice on your specific body style, they are fast to use.

I`m not saying that it didn`t work or didn`t look good. It just looked different from the cleaner wax I was using. It was almost like it made the finish more reflective and shiny while the cleaner wax was more of a very deep dark look. It was applied on clean paint that had a base coat of wax as a booster after being washed. It beaded up like crazy during our monsoons and looked good I just preferrred the look of the cleaner wax over it.
