I had a car cleaning situation that I could use some advice on.
At the last Car Care Clinic I attended, one of the attendees mentioned that "If you want to extend the life of a leather chamois, keep it moist and put it in a zip-loc bag". This statement seemed to get a general nod of agreement from some of those who were present. Well, I followed that advice, and after a month in the baggie, I opened it up and saw something that belonged in a biology experiment. It was quite moldy. I washed it under some warm water and watched it slowly rip apart every time that I ran it over the surface of my car. It had the tensile strength of a double folded bounty paper towel. Any advice? Thank you
I just let my chamois dry out after rinsing in clean water. Then rinse again before use. my chamois has lasted for years..
The mold in the baggy lives off of the leather and feeds into it till there is no more left to do any good.
Sorry for the HI-Jacked thread.
