  • Question for the Cali guys and gals...

Whats with all of these towns being named Yorba or Loma? Is that a common Spanish name or something?

Please excuse my ignorance on this

Re: Question for the Cali guys and gals...

Yorba was the name of a family who were prominent land owners during the Spanish era of California history.

Lomas means “hills.” Just as we have lots of English named places like Beverly Hills, Anaheim Hills, Mission Hills, Rolling Hills Estates or Laguna Hills we also have Spanish named places like Loma Linda, Alta Loma, Loma Prieta, Mira Loma or Point Loma.
