Fun things to do in Irvine on Friday's??

Hey guys and gals,

We're flying in from Dallas to attend the Saturday class. We'll be flying in around 10am Friday morning, and have nothing to do all day.

Can anyone recomend some trouble for 2 Texas boys to find in Irvine, Newport Beach or somewhere else? Mike's already suggested the karting place, and I think we're gonna have to make a few laps out there during the day. Any other suggestions for the evening festivities? Good bars around John Wayne Airport? Meguiar's HDQ? Something to give Trouble that little extra help in finding us

Knott's Berry Farm, Universal or Disneyland.

Six Flags Magic Mountain would be a bit of a haul to get there and back.

It's only $35 for a day of fun... if you like roller coasters and nice weather. I mapquested it and it appears to be only about 20 miles between Irvine and Buena Park.

Irvine Spectrum. A lot of stuff to check out there, including women.

Saleen Store is there. Pretty cool place.

in the morning, head to the beach (Newport or Huntington) to see the beach and walk along the Main st (huntington beach), lunch at K1Speed Kart Racing, then visit Irvine Spectrum. Night time go to Downtown Disney for some music, bars. If you want to go to club, Century club in LA is good place to go with variety of music and almost trouble free.

Looking forward to Saturday, it’ll be a load of fun.

My personal take on hot nightlife is highly suspect at best (it’s a nerd thing) but my first thought would be to head down the Balboa Peninsula to the pier (same neighborhood as the Saturday morning car show), or over to Balboa Island or Lido Island. I just like the beach.

The Detroit Bar (detroitbar.com) in Costa Mesa has gotten some good reviews. Never been there myself but the writers at the local “lifestyle” rag, OC Weekly (ocweekly.com), and others seem to like it.

OC Weekly’s main completion in the “free local paper telling you where to go for food and fun” department is SqueezeOC (squeezeoc.com). Between the two of them you should find references to almost everything going on in the neighborhood. Of course Google can snag you a lot of info too. Here’s a couple readings to get you started:

Wow! Lots of excellent suggestions guys!

I think when we get in town we're gonna hit up the K1 karting place for luch and a short grudge match, then head out to the Irvine Spectrum. I'd like to check out that Saleen store. Then find a little dive bar to hang out in Friday night.

South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. I have never found any Meguiar's products there, but if you are into LVMH, Armani, etc. then this mall is worth the trip.

Be sure to valet in the Nordstrom's lot to see all the sweet OC rides!

I'm more of an Old Navy kind of guy. Armani shirts don't make good rags when they are worn out

Would be cool to see the different rides out there. Here in Texas we have some pretty sweet rides around, but they are few and far between. I'm sure you Cali boys top the charts when it comes to cars and trucks!

Just cruise Pacific Coast Highway though Newport, maybe eat at a restaurant along the way (and that includes the Mickey D’s by the yacht shop). You’ll see plenty of nice cars.

I would head down to Laguna Beach if you are looking for something to do Friday evening. Good bars at Roof Top, Hush, Montage, or Ritz Carlton. Also Main Street in Huntington Beach has a good selection.
