    Tom...great insights!!

A benefit I hadn't realized (but much touted by others) is Meg's customer service...
I had to call them yesterday after receiving a wrong product in the mail...
...they were absolutely the best customer service people I have ever dealt with and corrected my problem immediately and with no hassle whatsoever...
...don't mean to sound like a blind follower, but Meg's seems to have a handle on every aspect of good business...

      Very nice!!

I'm glad I learned of Meguiar's early in my career and not had to keep experimenting with the numerous brands. Meguiar's is easy to use and find (for the most part). The products yield the results I'm and my clients are looking for.

I like the great variety of products. As time goes by I'm able to discern the subtle differences in the products.

well what I don't get is that those people spend time in posting negative post. so much time in posting all the unnecessary trying to confuse people who are just beginning to detail. They aren't worthly to register on this board i think...

well oboeboy if u use Meguiar's products.. you made the right choice and won't get unsatisfied. like Mosca said posted earlier...

"just by following the process" try to find out wich is best for yours and nothing can go wrong. And i am sure if u have a question on how to do something your question can be answerd here on this board i am sure about that... no it's a guarantee!

I suppose that why I posted this is because it seem that theres usually some good reason for people to have an emotion towards a product either good or bad. For example, we here like/love meguiars stuff because of what it's done to help our cars' finishes.
I would hope that people would have more integrity than to bash a product (and I mean, totally bash, read around) or a line of products for some reason other than, "well, it's not brand x, and I love brand x and therefore everything else ***** and will ruin your car and is hellspawn"
          this IS my signature :-)

I dunno. Everyone on the internet is an expert.

In person, it's throw-down time. You wanna know if a guy knows what he's talking about? Look at the car. The car don't lie. If a guy's spouting opinion, and the car is full of swirls, smile, nod,say thanks, and move your feet.

What we choose when we choose products at this level is, "Who do I think REALLY CARES if I buy and use this product?"

And that is how you get the "small is better" cult. The (often accurate) perception is that Sal Zaino, Jan and Terry Freiberg, Steve from Poorboys, and others CARE that they make a better, more distinctive product, that they CARE that you use it, that they CARE if there is something wrong, and also that they CARE and want to know when you get OUTSTANDING results!
              Then followed by this:
Well, you're here at this forum for a reason; because you believe that whoever you are writing to will read it, and that they will CARE
perpetual noob - I keep reading these statements and at face value it seems like your giving credit to these other folks. However, the caps seem to give me a sense of sarcasm....so I am not sure how to take your words.....I thought I would let everyone know a few folks who were mentioned actually do care above and beyond the "BUY MY PRODUCT" attitude.

I use Meguiar's products and have found them to be very effective and excellent products. I have also used Poorboy's Products and would like to make clear that after speaking to Steve and reading his posts and also his interactions with Mike Phillips on other forums, he has shown nothing but respect and professioanlism toward Meguiar's Products and Mike Phillips. I have never heard him speak bad about a Meguiar's product at all. Nor have I ever seen him PUSH his brand over another. In fact he usually suggests purchasing many brands, trying them, and having the user make the decision on which one best meets his needs.

I have never gotten a feeling of "cult" like status in using his products or from those who use it. After having many conversations with him, not only on his products, but how they may interact with other products on the market, I can only say he is a true professional as is Mike Phillips.

I felt it necessary express my sentiments for another "Good Guy" in the industry.

I must also state, the gentleman who sells 4 Star products and also runs another detailing forum, was the same person who turned me onto the Meguiar's professional series with products such as #83, #82, The Meg's PC pads, etc..... Another of the "Good Guys" in the business. He did care about what I used and didn't attempt at anytime to SELL his product to me until I asked to purchase it.

It's nice to know Mike Phillips, Steve and Dwayne are part of this "Good Guys" team. These are three Detailers/ Forumeisters who I feel, through personal experience, really do care about those of us who love this Detailing "Thang", no matter what our level of experience.

(...was this one of those posts I should have erased before posting?)......nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

No sarcasm intended at all, crobar. It's all at face value. Those companies have earned thier clientele by caring.

Thanks for the opportunity to think a little bit about what I mean, and how I arrive at the conclusions I do. If you don't mind, I'll expand a bit....

The "cult" status doesn't come from the company, it comes from the users. When I say "the 'small is better' cult" I mean people who actively seek nouveau products as a definition of their personality; they listen to Cat Power instead of Sheryl Crow, they eat flatiron steaks instead of ribeyes, and they use Wolfgang instead of NXT, all based on the fact that their choices are not informed by popularity.

There's nothing wrong or right about those choices. They're just not right FOR ME. I like BOTH Cat Power and Sheryl Crow, I'll eat a flatiron OR a ribeye, and if I didn't have so many damn products I'd have Wolfgang too. I include EVERYTHING in my world, irrespective of whether the masses like it or not, and I choose based on what I think. Aerosmith is popular, and they rock. No one's ever heard of The Stone Coyotes, and they rock. So I have BOTH.

And that's my point about Meguiar's. Bigger? All that means is more stuff, and easier to get it. Does Meg's care? Yep, they care. Cool!

It's "Mosca", btw. The "perpetual noob" is a descriptor, indicating that I'm always willing to learn from anyone. Go into your profile, and you can edit yours to something else, too, in "custom user text". I'll change mine to "cone killer" for a while, to indicate my ineptitude at autocrossing.

                Later,

                Tom

                  Mosca,
Sorry about getting your name wrong...no disrespect...I snuck that post in under the radar at work.....so I wasn't thinking~ typing to fast.
Thanks for the clarification..... I couldn't agree more with the examples given . Although I do like other products as well, basically with proper techniques, good products will be conducive to good results. After that it's all about the individual's preference.

                    pricing.....

be happy, you live in america, over here the meguiars products are more expensive,in fact,it's the most expensive brand we sell.
and believe me,we sell a lot.
i work for a car parts company, and i decided we needed something that others didn't offer.believe me or not,but meguiars products are overhere as seldom as water in the desert.a bottle of gold class wax,is sold for 24,99 euro,to keep it simple, one euro,is aprox. the same value as one dollar.
we have a lot of customers, who really love their car.so with that in mind,i stocked a small product line of meguiars.
in the first year we stocked it,we sold more than 750 bottles of gold class wax,and that's just a ip of the iceberg.
altough it's quite expensive, car lovers will buy it for it's quality, and hey,the best argument i use is:
a mercedes benz is more expensive than a chevy,or am i wrong?
today i bought my first bottle of dacp #83. i hope i can work with this, time will tell.

                    ciao,

                    Rick
