I just heard on the news that Steve Irwin - AKA "Crocodile hunter"
was killed by a stingray while filming off the great barrier reef.

Thoughts and sympathy out to his family.

I just heard the same thing....tragic...he was a great educator and my kids all loved him...he'll be missed...his family is in our prayers.

It's true. I just read the news report.

After all those close calls...a Stingray killed him.

I can't believe it.

I always thought that guy was a fool. I guess he died doing what he loves. But play with fire..........

I'm with you......just an amazing freak thing to have happen. So very sad indeed. He was just so full of life, so into living life to the fullest. How tragic.

I was shocked to see this today, and saddened. I used to enjoy watching his show and how crazy he was. He indeed lived life to it's fullest and he died doing what he loved doing. I also feel very bad for his family, god bless them.

From the news over here he was filming stingrays for his daughter's show when a stingray swam underneath him and got a scare, stabbed up with its barbs and swam away. Mean while Steve pulls the barb out and dies within seconds.

The saddest part was that the area he was filming in didn't have cell phone reseption so he missed out on his fathers day talk with his wife and kids.

You either loved him or hated him, their was no middle ground. but the effect he had on wildlife conservation onver here in Australia was enormas and he will be greatly missed.

And yes he was the same person talking to him face to face without a camera as he was on films.
